8 months ago, the add-on stopped working, then the authors worked tirelessly to fix it. It seems that youtube/google/alphabet just can't stand the idea of people having control over the endless disgusting slop oozing out of their website, because an update to youtube has broken this add-on once again.

I see some people saying that only the context menu has broken, but for my part, the entire add-on no longer functions at all. Oddly, the mobile version appears to still be working...

At this point, I wouldn't blame the contributors for giving up on this sisiphean chore. I certainly hope not! I want to stress how good this add-on is, WHEN it's working, in that youtube is so much more tolerable when you aren't being bombarded with gross-out bait videos, propaganda, or 'exclamation and arrow' spam. Sometimes you don't hate a channel, but get nothing but recommendations for that person... and you just want to filter your search results temporarily.

This tool is amazingly versatile, and I think indispensable in taming our increasingly corporatized internet.

This used to be an essential add-on, but starting several months ago context menu blocking broke for comments. And now context menu blocking is fully broken for videos and channels too. I can still block the channels by manually adding them by name or ID (which is a pain to find/extract), but this is an unacceptably slow process. I really hope the dev finds the time to fix it.

Worked great for a long time, then YouTube changed something and it doesn't work at all. Hopefully the author will fix it soon.

Used it for a long time but since october 1. it does absolutely nothing anymore. it just stopped working.

was working and then it started just not. didnt update anything, nothing changed, it just stopped working. thanks for nothing.

This add-on is the best thing since sliced bread. You heard me right!
BUT, Youtube temporarily broke it around Oct 1, 2024 by changing an API to further their war against ad blockers.
Seriously, the ONLY reason this add-on is not more popular is people don't know about it. I have almost complete control of what YT decides to throw in my face - wonderful!

It makes YT usable again.

edit: the bug affecting context menu blocking mentioned below was fixed (v. 0.4.4.).

if you experience youtube disabling playback due to blocktube: make sure to uncheck the "Disable YouTube's audio loudness normalization" setting in blocktube.

the addon works great until youtube makes changes and breaks its functionality.

currently (v. 0.4.3.) the option to click the three dots beside a video and choose to block a video or channel is broken.

manually typing the video/channel id into the blocking filters still works.

the content that was blocked earlier by video/channel title, and video/channel id is staying blocked and the blocking of shorts also still works.

advanced blocking still works.

the addon needs an update to fix current bugs.

It's been half-broken in firefox and derivative browsers (such as waterfox) for about 1/3rd of a year and the author clearly doesn't care. As of today it's now *completely* broken in firefox/etc. Avoid this abandonware and switch to the objectively better YTBlock by Edoan.

and check all add-on, but I couldn't find why.

makes youtube usable by letting you block racism, gore, etc. It would be nice if the context menu let you add a comment at the time of blocking (you can add a comment in the list manually after blocking you just have to remember to edit the list)

Not working anymore

Hi, I want to suggest reinstating a feature this add-on used to have: it used to be able to block individual commenters as well as channels, for example, if you see a spammer saying the same garbage over and over in all comment sections you look at, you can click on the three-dots icon on the right side of this commenter and hit "block user" and he would be gone forever, you won't see him again, but lately, at least since a few months ago, this feature was gone, when you click on the three-dots thing of the commenter you only see "report", which is the youtube default feature, but no more "block user" or "block channel" (I can't remember the wording this add-on used, but the block-user-through-comment definitely came with this add-on before, since youtube never let you just block users in the comment section). So please consider putting this feature back with your add-on, thank you!

Can you please add an option to disable live stream recommendations. Please! I swear, every year, Youtube gets worse and worse and worse!

This triggers Youtube's add blocker detection meaning you cant watch videos with it enabled. Kinda useless if you actually want to use youtube to watch videos.

Turns out it was the "Disable YouTube's audio loudness normalization" option that was triggering youtubes add block detection.

Does not block channels anymore. Currently when you click to block a channel, it does add the channel to Channel ID list, but the channel and its videos still show up on YouTube.
