od uživatele 00yunje, před 9 měsíciDepending on who you're subscribed to, this might not make much impact on your browsing experience. Due to titles being crowd-sourced, not every video will be equally affected. Sometimes, the suggested titles can get REALLY pedantic for otherwise perfectly serviceable titles. For example, "The History of The Simpsons Hit & Run World Records" by Summoning Salt became... "The History of The Simpsons Hit & Run (All Story Missions) World Records". Like, that's *barely* more information, and it's stuff I think most people would've assumed anyway from the original title. However, in both cases I've seen this happen, they've reverted back to the original titles soon after. (There's not even a record of there ever being a proposed title, so you're just gonna have to trust me that they were there. I know what I saw.)
Generally, they make the biggest difference with channels like Kurzgesagt or Tom Scott, creators they specifically showcase in the screenshots. Titles can be a bit of a mixed bag for others, but more for the fact that not every video - that might need a retitle - will get them. The generic thumbnail replacer makes the bigger difference to me, imo. It just gives you an honest impression of what each video's gonna look like, literally. And it's nice not having to deal with the obnoxious, gaudy thumbnails people put out sometimes.
Despite the occasionally questionable re-titles, I think the crowd-sourced titles are decent and in good faith. I appreciate the number of guidelines the devs put out to even propose a proper title. It sort of feels like Wikipedia - it might have its vandals, but collectively I think it's in good hands.

- Hodnocení: 5 z 5od uživatele Vance, před 3 dnyAjay knocks it out of the park again. I actually thought about this many years ago (user-sourced way to report/remove sponsors and fix titles), so it made me very happy to see this king actually went and did it.
I buy this for $1-$5 every time I install it. Apps that fight cringe, manipulative, and degenerate behavior from places like YouTube should be encouraged and supported.
I'll happily pay my fair share for good digital content, made by developers who I respect because they don't treat their customers... or even all consumers in general, like garbage.
I'm not sure why people are bitching about the option to pay. It asks for a dollar once (or more, if you'd like), and the option to decline and use it anyway is in plain view. I've used it for free as well, and I've never seen that message again. I genuinely feel like people are overlooking the button that says "download without paying" (or whatever the exact term is).
You don't need to pay for this app. If you don't, it never asks again — minus a non-intrusive line of text at the top of some pages that is microscopic in size.
If you are so crusty about paying for content that you won't contribute to honest and useful apps that deserve it, that's a "you" problem. Coming at the devs simply for showing the OPTION to pay (with an option to decline in plain view), is a "you being a dick" problem.
You sir, have my respect, and a few extra bucks. Happy to support this app, as well as any others that fight intrusive, over-corporatized, and annoying garbage online.
By all means, get for free all the mainstream apps riddled with ads and needless monthly subscriptions (modded, patched, or torrented or whatever). I will too, obviously, as should anyone who isn't wealthy or a moron.
BUT... That being said, when an app is actually worth your time, helpful, genuine, honest... All the things mainstream apps are not... I recommend paying for it. It's a dollar.
If people want things like adblock and sponsorblock to continue to exist in the future without being crushed by corporate overlords, throw the guys who make them a buck sometime. At the very least, don't whine and shit yourself because they had the audacity to ask. Fuck, man. - Hodnocení: 5 z 5od uživatele Uživatel Firefoxu - 13137791, před 7 dny

I don't think there's any reason other than the developer wishing to justify monetizing crowd-sourced software.
EDIT: response to developer - I would wager that the vast majority of this addon's users don't care about the title change feature (indeed, I quickly disabled it). I also don't see how Clickbait Remover predating Arrow excuses Arrow being over-engineered - if anything, that makes it worse (a simple solution was demonstrated, yet it was decided to build an incredibly convoluted alternative)Odpověď vývojáře
zveřejněno před 23 dnyClickbait remover is a great extension that was made before dearrow. If you prefer that simple approach, it's made for you
The crowdsourcing in dearrow is more about titles than thumbnails, which is something clickbait remover is not able to deal with.
Response to edit: I'm not sure I understand your point. If you don't think crowdsourcing is beneficial to you, you should use the other extension. The whole point of this extension is for the crowdsourcing, so most people using this extension are do have those enabled. - Hodnocení: 2 z 5od uživatele random user, před měsícemAwkward semi-paid scheme, especially for a crowdsourced project. That alone makes me not want to contribute since the dev might at an point decide to remove access.
The replaced thumbnails are very hit and miss. Replacing clickbait is one thing, but this extension just want to replace all of them indiscriminatingly, removing useful information. Quite a bit are literally just replaced with blank images or other junk...Odpověď vývojáře
zveřejněno před 23 dnyBy default, most thumbnails are replaced with random screenshots to try to let you get a sense of what the video is like. This can be changed in the settings to show the original thumbnails instead of you prefer them.
All the crowdsourced data is public and under a creative commons license (https://sponsor.ajay.app/database). The code is also fully open source under the GPL. The magic of open source is that anyone can continue the project or fork it to their own desire. - Hodnocení: 5 z 5od uživatele Bryn, před měsícem

- Hodnocení: 5 z 5od uživatele Uživatel Firefoxu - 19094068, před měsícemA great addon that de-clickbaits youtube. Only downside is that after using it for some time, you realise that most of what reaches the front page is just slop. I happily paid for DeArrow as it has made the youtube experience much better for filtering good content out of the slop.
- Hodnocení: 1 z 5od uživatele Uživatel Firefoxu - 19092967, před měsícemAggressively asks for payment despite 99% of its value being derived from the community that contributes the titles/thumbnails __for free__. Imagine if Wikipedia tried to charge a monthly subscription...
Asking for donations is one thing, and you certainly deserve some money for the work you've done here, but there's a difference between politely asking for a donation and blocking somebody's path until they shove you out of the way - Hodnocení: 1 z 5od uživatele Uživatel Firefoxu - 19001582, před 2 měsíci
- Hodnocení: 4 z 5od uživatele Seumas, před 2 měsíciLike its sister extension (SponsorBlock), DeArrow changes the game when it comes to experiencing Youtube. If only were were a solution on mobile and elsewhere, too. Crowdsourced video titles means no more hyperbole, obnoxious formatting, and outright lying or baiting. And when you *do* run into those things, it feels good improving them so that others with the extension can benefit from a clearer and cleaner experience. I almost never pay or donate for extensions (though I have), but I immediately did so for DeArrow and SponsorBlock. I hope these extensions both grow in popularity, so even more videos are improved at a faster rate.
The only reason I knocked a star off of this review is that if I don't QUICKLY add the title when the input interface is open, it will always kill my entire browser (Zen Browser on Windows 11 usually). Everything -- all windows, tabs, etc -- the whole browser just hangs and the only way to get it working again is to kill the process and launch again. It happens so quickly that I have to type my title out in notepad, then copy it so that as soon as I open the input interface, I can immediately paste it in and hit the submit button.
However, if using it passively (not contributing -- just getting the benefit of better titles), it has no apparent negative impact. I would contribute more frequently if it were more stable, but it is otherwise terrific. - Hodnocení: 3 z 5od uživatele walu, před 2 měsícithe thumbnail replacement is great, i don't use the title replacement. unfortunately, whenever i click on the "open submission menu" pencil icon, firefox freezes entirely and i have to kill and restart it :(

It's only $1 (I think), and offers the option of just either having a trial or using it for free, but neither of the last options worked.
I'm sure this is a great idea, but I couldn't get it to work to check if I liked it. Just make it paid for or not please, I don't want to have to faff about trying to get it to work.
