What This Extension Does

The Covvet browser extension helps you track prices on products you're interested in. When you click the Covvet button on a product page, the extension identifies the product and lets you save it for price monitoring.

Data We Collect

Page Content

When you activate the extension on a product page, we collect:
- Page structure: The visible content of the current webpage to identify product information (name, price, and image)
- Page URLs: The current page URL, canonical URL, and OpenGraph URL

This data is sent to Covvet servers to extract product details. Raw page content is automatically deleted after processing.

User Information

• Account data: Your email address and user ID (if logged in) to associate saved products with your account
• Preferences: Your discount notification threshold and privacy settings for each product

Analytics and Error Data

• Usage analytics: Usage patterns to improve the extension (via PostHog)
• Error reports: Technical error information to fix bugs (via Sentry)

How We Use Your Data

• Product identification: Page content is processed to extract product name, price, and image
• Price monitoring: URLs and product data are used to track prices and send notifications
• Service improvement: Analytics help us understand how the extension is used
• Bug fixes: Error reports help us identify and fix problems

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:
- PostHog (analytics): Collects usage data
- Sentry (error tracking): Collects error reports with context

Data Storage

• Browser: The extension stores analytics identifiers in your browser's localStorage
• Servers: Product information and your preferences are stored on Covvet servers

Data Retention

• Page content is processed automatically deleted
• Product data is retained until you delete it from your account
• Analytics data is retained according to PostHog's retention policies
• Error data is retained according to Sentry's retention policies

Your Rights

You can:
- Delete saved products from your Covvet account
- Uninstall the extension to stop all data collection
- Contact us to request deletion of your account data
