Detoxify customizes your YouTube experience in the browser by:

• Hiding YouTube Shorts surfaces (feeds, shelves, navigation) when enabled
• Optionally redirecting Shorts player URLs (/shorts/*) to the YouTube home page
• Hiding Playables / Games promo shelves when enabled
• Hiding home-feed cards that match a user-defined keyword blocklist
• Optionally shortening the “YouTube Music” guide label
• Saving named presets of these preferences

All of this runs locally in your browser.


We do not collect, store on our servers, or transmit personal or sensitive user data.

• We do not track browsing or watch history.
• We do not send video titles, channels, keywords, or preferences to external servers.
• We do not use analytics, ads, or third-party APIs.

Using the browser storage permission, Detoxify saves preferences such as:

• Feature toggles (hide Shorts, hide Playables, etc.)
• Keyword blocklist entries you add
• Built-in preset selection and any custom presets you create

Data is kept in the browser’s extension storage (storage.sync when available so settings can follow your browser account, still under your browser vendor’s control — not Detoxify servers).

No other host permissions are requested.


Detoxify does not integrate third-party services for core functionality. Links in the popup (GitHub, support, website) open only if you click them.


Because no data is sent to Detoxify-operated servers, there is no Detoxify backend that can leak your settings. Protect your device and browser account as usual.


The extension is a general-purpose YouTube UI tool. It does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
