The free version seems easier. I purchased the license hoping to download videos directly to MP3 but those options are not apparent. The "help" section of VDH shows screenshots that indicate selecting the output file format as MP3. In reality, what shows up (in my updated Firefox browser) looks nothing like the screenshot in their help section.

The only download format options I get are MP4s and MKV. In addition, if I start the download and realize I want it saved into a different folder, I have to cancel the download, go into settings and change the destination folder. But then the VDH will not allow me to download again from that same browser. I have to close the video, open a new tab and then cue it up again. BIG TIME WASTER.

If you want to download directly to MP3 you have to right click the 3 dots to the right of the "Download" and then "Download Audio" will appear as an option. This was very difficult to figure out.

In other words, the paid version is cumbersome and time consuming.

I did download their open source add but you need to close and re-open your browser, and even then the options to download and convert are not user friendly.

    I've been using VDH for many years, and have downloaded well over 500 videos over the years. I have been pleased with the app as a whole, particularly their constant revisions to keep up with new content not downloadable previously. I have the conversion extension, which is well worth it, and I love the ability to download only the audio of certain videos.

    This is the most amazing add-on I have ever used on my computer. It's very simple, user friendly and gets the job done very efficiently with no strings attached. It can download multiple files at an amazing speed. This downloading add on can download files from websites where many add on's and apps have completely failed for me in the past and I was just about to completely give up until I came across video download helper add on which is the best and it's just simply amazing. I highly recommend this add on above any other add on or app out there in the market.
