This is a very clean chat mod. It helps with performance A LOT. However, it seems to randomly filter out chat messages. I prefer to keep all messages visible (Live Chat), but when I compare Youtube's normal Live Chat with HyperChat, you can see that HyperChat only shows every 3rd or 4th message.

I tried comparing HyperChat (on Live Chat) to Youtube (on Top Chat) and see that Youtube's Top Chat filters more out. So basically, HyperChat doesn't filter as much as Youtube's Top Chat, but it does filter more than Live Chat.

The only reason I managed to pick up on this is because HyperChat actually filtered out my own chat message, which is what made me think to compare it with Youtube's chat and figure out what was happening.

I can't use this if it's going to filter things that I didn't ask it to filter.

    Does exactly what it says on the tin, love the improved performance and ability to switch to live chat by default.

    HyperChat is a must-have extension. YouTube's regular live chat box can slow down your browser, especially on non-Chromium-based browsers. HyperChat replaces the chat box with its own, more performant version. For those who watch streamers with community or hired chatters who post "live" translation comments, such as select streams from Hololive, this extension features a custom interface to display those messages, making it easier to follow along with the dialogue.

    Not exactly what I had in mind, but it works nonetheless. I hope in the future you'll add a filter to filter "Japanese Only" text and vice versa. I'll bear with only using the "Member Only" filter for now.

    I won't knock a star off this really good add-on, but it's admittedly not what I was looking for.

    I was hoping that this add-on would come equipped with some way to write filters for chat, as I simply want to disable EN comments on JP streams (the two fanbases behave very differently). If they added this, I would be so pleased. Otherwise the only other thing I could ask for is more subtle branding on chat because it sticks out like a sore thumb. Still, these are not significant downsides at all.

    It was working fine until the most recent update, now the translation feature has stopped working. I will update my review if this gets fixed.

    Absolute hero of an extension! I was having horrendous memory leaks on stock YouTube on all browsers. Finally tracked it down to the live chats of live streams. Installing this extension instantly solved my problems. Amazing that third party developers can consistently do what the biggest companies in tech consistently can't. Well done!
