According to the Russian "foreign agent" law, all materials of "foreign agents" (independent media) must be preceded by a self-deprecating text, which is 220 characters long:
"Данное сообщение (материал) создано и (или) распространено иностранным средством массовой информации, выполняющим функции иностранного агента, и (или) российским юридическим лицом, выполняющим функции иностранного агента."
>> "This message (material) was created and (or) distributed by a foreign media outlet acting as a foreign agent and (or) a Russian legal entity acting as a foreign agent."
That law is a form of censorship.
This extension replaces that annoying text on websites with user-provided shorter text.
