    I wonder if we could instead put a {{query}} in an additional search engine as a placeholder.
    This is because on many sites, search queries are often found between slashes or search parameters rather than at the end of the URL.
    Because of that it limits the ability to add many other sites.

    I’ve never seen a site that inserts the query between slashes, but I think this feature is really useful for users, so I plan to add it.

    By the way, the order of parameters can generally be changed. For example:
    https://www.google.com/search?q=firefox&client=firefox-b-d
    can be rewritten as
    https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=firefox
    This should work on most sites.

    This is very good. The defaults can be improved (renders in desktop mode by default when it's just a setting change in the options). One thing missing is a way to enable dark mode. Google search does this automatically in regular windows, but not here. This is the biggest issue right now.

    This seems that it is the specific behavior of Google. The theme of Google Search depends on User-Agent also, so it can be an unintentional mode when the User-Agent is not set to default.

    I like to use this by switching the user-agent from desktop to mobile to allow for viewing search results in the mobile layout, which can fit to the width of the sidebar. I don't mind having to do this manually, but I think it would be cool if this extension had user-agent switching/toggling implemented and maybe even confined to the sidebar search engine... if that could be possible. Nonetheless, I think this is the closest thing to the Google Docs Explore tool available for web browsing with Firefox. Very useful.

    Sadly, Mozzila(Firefox Developers) doesn't provide a feature to detect the sidebar. So if this add-on try to change user-agent, it will overwrite all requests. I am waiting for them to add the feature.

    Sorry for my wrong reply. It is hard to change User Agent because changing it will effect entire requests.

    This would be a so much better extension if there's an option to force mobile version of webpages in sidebar (which is usually designed to reflow for narrower interface, which is perfect for a sidebar); and allow users to customize their own search engine (or simply allow bookmark search feature, which is one of the geniuses of firefox)

    It completely depends on the site. For instance, a page of twitter (e.g. https://twitter.com/githubstatus) in the sidebar displays a mobile UI but Wikipedia does not. Sites like the latter, you may need to change your user-agent.

    Sometimes I think that I should add this feature. This will be added, perhaps.

    I have never thought about it. This will be added also, if possible.

    I really want to give it 5. My only issue is with Bing and Google it doesn't fit the sidebar. Bing is better over Google. It's like Google is loading a standard page rather than say mobile view. DuckDuck Go works great. however i am partial to Bing due to points since I use that to pay for my Xbox subscription.

    Update: I found a few other that would place a search in sidebar and it seems that there is no control how bing looks in the sidebar.

    Sadly there is no options to open search engines as a mobile layout, as you say. I think that the sidebar should display as a mobile view, but it is impossible.
