The Vault by Focused Hunts - Password Manager Browser Extension Privacy Policy

1. OVERVIEW

The Vault Password Manager browser extension ("the Extension") connects your web
browser to The Vault desktop application running on your local computer. This
privacy policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is handled, and
what is transmitted.

1. DATA THE EXTENSION ACCESSES

When you visit a web page, the Extension may:
- Read the page URL and domain name to match against your saved credentials
- Detect login form fields (username, email, password inputs) on the page
- Temporarily hold credential data during the autofill process

When you use multi-step login support, the Extension may:
- Store the current domain, username, and password in sessionStorage for the
duration of the login flow (automatically cleared when the tab is closed)

1. DATA THE EXTENSION DOES NOT COLLECT

The Extension does NOT:
- Send any data to remote servers, analytics services, or third parties
- Store your passwords, usernames, or any credentials in browser storage
- Track your browsing history or browsing behavior
- Use cookies or tracking technologies
- Collect telemetry, usage statistics, or crash reports
- Make any network requests whatsoever

1. HOW CREDENTIALS ARE HANDLED

All credential operations are performed locally on your computer:
- The Extension communicates exclusively with The Vault desktop app through
Firefox's Native Messaging API (a local inter-process communication channel)
- Credentials travel only between the browser process and your local Vault
application — they never leave your machine
- Credentials are used transiently during form fill and are not cached or
persisted by the Extension
- The content script runs in Firefox's isolated execution environment,
inaccessible to JavaScript on the web page

1. PERMISSIONS

The Extension requests the following permissions:
- nativeMessaging: To communicate with The Vault desktop app on your computer
- activeTab: To detect login forms and fill credentials on web pages
- storage: To store non-sensitive extension preferences (e.g., UI settings)

1. DATA STORAGE

The Extension stores only non-sensitive preferences (such as display settings)
using Firefox's extension storage API. No credentials, passwords, tokens, or
personally identifiable information are stored by the Extension.

Your vault data is stored and encrypted by The Vault desktop application, which
is governed by its own privacy practices. See:

1. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The Extension does not integrate with, transmit data to, or receive data from
any third-party service. All functionality is local to your device.

1. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect
any personal information from children.

1. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the Extension. Material changes
will be communicated through the Extension's update notes on addons.mozilla.org.
