VisualRunner Privacy Policy

What we collect

VisualRunner collects account information (email and display name), workspace and project configuration, screenshots and comparison results that you choose to store in the cloud, and usage data required to enforce plan limits such as capture counts, storage usage, and monitor runs.

Free Local mode

Screenshots captured in Free Local mode through the browser extension are never uploaded to VisualRunner servers and are not collected by us. We do not collect your general browsing history or the contents of pages you have not explicitly submitted for capture.

Browser extension permissions

The VisualRunner extension acts only on websites you explicitly configure or submit for capture.

activeTab and scripting are used to run the capture functionality on the page being captured.

tabs is used to open and switch between tabs required to perform a capture job.

storage stores the extension's local sign-in state and capture preferences, including selected projects, environments, languages, and viewports.

downloads is used to save Free Local mode ZIP exports when you explicitly request a download.

debugger uses browser debugging capabilities solely to render full-page and custom-viewport screenshots of the website being captured. It is not used to inspect unrelated network traffic or monitor unrelated browsing.

cookies is used only to set locale/session cookie values that you explicitly configure in a language or cookie profile for the website being captured. VisualRunner does not use this permission to read or export your existing cookies.

notifications and alarms are used to periodically check your VisualRunner cloud projects for completed monitor runs and display local notifications.

Capture jobs may use background tabs to process the website and configured language variants automatically. When host access is required, the extension requests it for the specific website targeted by the capture job rather than requesting access to all websites at installation.

The extension does not execute remotely hosted code.

Cloud functionality

When you choose to use VisualRunner cloud functionality, VisualRunner may process screenshots, capture results, project configuration and other information required to provide capture, comparison, storage, monitoring and notification functionality.

Use and sharing

We use collected data to provide and secure the VisualRunner service, enforce plan entitlements, prevent abuse, process payments and provide service-related communications.

Data may be shared with subprocessors strictly necessary to operate the service, including cloud hosting/object storage providers, Stripe for payment processing, and our transactional email provider.

VisualRunner does not sell personal data or use extension data for advertising.

Security and retention

Communication between the extension, VisualRunner web application and VisualRunner servers uses HTTPS/TLS. Sensitive credentials are encrypted at rest using application-level encryption. We do not log cookie values, authentication tokens or screenshot contents.

Cloud screenshots and capture history are retained according to the applicable plan's retention period. Workspace data can be deleted from workspace settings.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal data.
