fantastic plugin for those who work with many tabs and open windows on firefox. essential for workflow! - Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternenvon Jbbr, vor 2 JahrenIt's taken me over three years to discover the existence of this addon, and I'm so glad that I have. In the ten minutes I've been using it, it's doing everything I need and has immediately become indispensable. I'm totally loving the slash command controls.
It just remains for me to install it on all the other Firefox instances I use and perfect Firefox window workflows are enabled everywhere.
Lionel, you are an inspired genius, thank you so much for this; much respect to you. :)
PS: How do we trigger a Mozilla review and recommendation for this exceptionally brilliant addon? - Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternenvon Mike Lei, vor 3 JahrenThe last missing piece of Firefox window management. Seamlessly integrated with the tab bar and carefully designed to every detail. A must have extension if you want to leverage the full power of multi-window browsing!

It just needs some kind of session management to avoid losing windows (it happened to me after closing and reopening firefox) and maybe storing windows to the cloud and be able to open just one window on another device.
Antwort des Entwicklers
geschrieben am vor 4 JahrenI suggest using a dedicated session management extension. I haven't made any plans to add such a feature in Winger but I will explore whether it's worth it.
Storing windows and opening them on another device is possible with the Stash/Unstash commands and synced bookmarks! - Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternenvon keedi, vor 4 Jahren

and I think it is a problem that winger will change my window name by default, can I turn off it? because it will cover my previous title when I import windows and tabs.Antwort des Entwicklers
geschrieben am vor 5 JahrenYou can switch windows pretty fast with: F1 {first letter of window name} Enter. You can even add numbers in names if you like, so you can type F1 1 Enter, for example.
Do you mean that default names change after browser restarts? Yes default names are always temporary as mentioned in the help guide. It's a good point though; maybe Winger can just do without them...
I don't understand what you mean by "import windows and tabs". Please email me to discuss this further.
Edit: I'm warming to the shortcut idea :) - Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternenvon Firefox-Benutzer 13439647, vor 5 Jahren
- Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternenvon GoodOldMonkey, vor 5 JahrenYou Need This Absolutely TREMENDOUS add-on! I have wildly disorganized work habits, and I'm indecisive, too, so it's not uncommon for me to have 144 tabs open, as I do right now.
I use Tree Tabs (also fantastic) to group them, usually four or five groups per page. Up to now, the FireFox menu showed only the active tab name, which didn't always make it clear what window/group that was. Now it's easy to see which window is Personal stuff, and so on.
And wiith Winger I don't have to go to the appropriate page when a question pops into my head. Just open the URL, and send the tab to the page it belongs in. This is super helpful when you don't actually want to look at the page right away — kind of like a detour with no time penalty.
Winger works flawlessly with Tree Tabs, the documentation is clear and very detailed, and it's free! These add-ons together make FireFox so much handier than Chrome or Safari I could really live without them. Amazing Winger has only 28 users at this writing. - Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternenvon iudex, vor 5 JahrenI tried using windows to manage my tabs before, but it was complicated to move around them. This window manager is the missing piece to this workflow, I'm really glad I stumbled upon it!
- Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternenvon TwoHawks, vor 5 JahrenThis is not getting enough love. I struggle with being able to group windows as well as tabs ...this is a better step in this direction than anything else I have yet found. While it does not actually group windows, the naming feature facilitates a manner of grouping.
For instance, I may have 500 tabs open in about 40 to 50 windows (I do lots of research and development in various fields). If I have several "news" groups open I can tag (adding a name) each window News1, News2, etc, ir even something like News1-tech, News2-politics, News3-foriegn aid research, etc etc.
Then I can
- move tabs between windows,
- search on the labels without Tab-WindowTitles of Tabs that are not currently the focus in a particular window cluttering up my search (I have Tabhunter for that)
...and there are a number of elegant management tools and settings that come with.
They deleted my old account here, I have been on Moz since the beginning, and am a coder. This is a work very well done, simple, and effective. thank you very much Lionel.Antwort des Entwicklers
geschrieben am vor 5 JahrenThank you for your kind words. It means a lot.
Grouping windows would be an OS-level task, and the solution is the multi-desktop/workspace feature on most modern OSes, or you can try third-party app alternatives (which I'd do for Windows10, as I currently find its built-in feature a bit lacking).
But yes, naming can in a way facilitate grouping. Good thinking! I do it too, and I intend to document it as a tip in the help page for the next update. I like to go with e.g. news, news/tech, news/politics, etc. With whatever naming pattern used, typing "news" in the panel will show a list of all the news windows. - Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternenvon Firefox-Benutzer 15904869, vor 6 Jahren
