Workspaces lets you organize your browser tabs into named groups. Switch between workspaces to show one set of tabs and hide the rest - no closing, no losing your place, no tab bar chaos.

  • Instant switching - Alt+. / Alt+, to cycle, Alt+W to open the popup
  • Container integration - bind a workspace to a Firefox Container; new tabs open and stay in the right container
  • Tab groups - native Firefox tab groups keep their name, color and collapsed state across workspace switches
  • Bookmark backup - export a workspace to a bookmarks folder and restore it later, on this profile or another
  • Customizable - 32 icons, 8 colors, drag-and-drop reorder
  • Survives restarts - workspace-to-tab mapping persists via browser.sessions, with URL snapshots as a fallback
  • Safety nets - if the session is not restored at startup, the saved tab lists are exported to bookmarks automatically; if something else closes your workspace tabs right after startup, they are reopened and returned to their workspaces
  • Move tabs - right-click any tab to move it to another workspace
  • Search and preview - find tabs across all workspaces from the popup; hover a workspace to preview its tabs
  • Omnibox - type "ws" + space in the address bar to switch workspaces or jump straight to a tab
  • Recently closed tabs - restore tabs closed within a workspace

Keyboard shortcuts
  • Alt+W - open the popup
  • Alt+. - next workspace
  • Alt+, - previous workspace

Why the permissions
  • Bookmarks - only to write and read the "Workspaces" backup folder
  • Containers and cookies - to open a workspace's tabs in the container you bound to it
  • Sessions - to remember which workspace a tab belongs to across restarts

No data collection. No external network requests. Your tabs stay on your machine.
