- Purpose of the "Archive Search" Feature
This extension provides a direct link to third-party archival services (such as Arctic Shift) to assist users in identifying potential bots, astroturfing, and bad-faith actors. We believe that transparency is essential for maintaining the integrity of public discourse on Reddit. - Data Practices & Privacy
• No Data Collection: This extension does not track, store, or sell your browsing history, Reddit username, or the profiles you visit.
• Direct Redirection: The "View Archive" feature is a simple URL redirect. We do not scrape Reddit ourselves. We simply pass the username parameter to a third-party search engine at the user's explicit request (via a button click).
• Third-Party Disclosure: By clicking the archive button, you will be navigated away from Reddit to a third-party site. These services operate independently of this extension and have their own privacy policies. They may display content that has been hidden or deleted on Reddit's native interface. - Ethical Use & Good Faith Policy
By using this feature, you agree to the following ethical guidelines:
• Accountability, Not Harassment: This tool is intended for vetting public figures, bots, or users participating in bad faith. Do not use this tool to stalk, harass, or "dox" individuals who have chosen to hide their history for personal safety.
• Respect "Safe Spaces": Be mindful that many users hide their history to protect themselves in sensitive communities (e.g., health, support, or identity-based subreddits).
• No Malicious Intent: Use of this extension to bypass privacy settings for the purpose of targeted bullying or intimidation is a violation of our terms of service and may result in the extension being disabled.
Disclaimer: This extension is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Reddit, Inc. or Arctic Shift. We provide this interface as-is for researchers and community moderators.
