No breaking changes. Same permissions as previous version.

CHANGES:
• Added internationalization (i18n) support for key interface elements, including banner messages and tooltips, now fully localized for en-US, pt-BR, es-ES, and fr-FR.
• Refined top-of-page notification banners with a more professional visual style and subtle hover animations suitable for operational aviation environments.
• Improved close-button UX with better hit area, subtle visual feedback on hover/press, and consistent styling across all banners.
• Enhanced accessibility by adding descriptive titles/aria labels to interactive elements, improving screen reader support.
• Hardened safety behavior around "Force Search" so that the interface reacts more consistently when security states require features to be blocked.

WHAT DID NOT CHANGE:
• Highlighting algorithms and supported profiles (NOTAM, METAR, TAF, SIGMET, etc.).
• Permissions: activeTab, storage, tabs and downloads (same as previous version).
• No use of extra host permissions beyond what was previously approved.
• No data collection, telemetry, analytics, or tracking.
• Background service worker logic and storage structure remain unchanged.

Version v0.9.16 combines critical permission hardening + cross-browser stability fixes.

Version v0.9.14 focuses on reducing permissions and improving privacy for users.

Removed all host-specific permissions: the extension no longer declares any host_permissions domains and now uses an empty host permissions list ("host_permissions": []).

No new permissions were added and no existing permissions (such as access to tabs, storage or downloads) were expanded.

All functional changes are internal refactorings to keep behavior identical while relying only on existing permissions and content scripts.

Updated internal security whitelist to include airnav.com and udds-faa.opendata.arcgis.com for improved aviation data coverage without adding new browser-level privileges.

Bug fixes and stability improvements for domain validation layer

Updated all external links in the extension UI and documentation to use the new endpoint https://aviation.smartcontentguard.com/ instead of https://notamspot.com/. This change reduces the risk of corporate firewalls and security filters blocking requests based on aviation/NOTAM-related keywords in the domain name, while preserving the same product experience and content.

Kept the public-facing product site and SEO strategy centered on https://notamspot.com/, using canonical tags and redirects on the web side so that search indexing, localization, and legal pages remain consistent and discoverable for end users.

No changes were made to the permission set, core logic, or data-processing behavior of the NOTAMSpot extension. The update is strictly about where informational and support links point, to improve reliability in enterprise and airport IT environments.

🔧 What's Fixed

Removed Unused scripting Permission: The extension no longer requests the scripting permission from the manifest. All content analysis and highlighting operates via declarative content scripts, maintaining full functionality while adhering to modern WebExtensions security standards.

Simplified Locale Support: Streamlined the internationalization structure by standardizing locale identifiers. The extension now supports pt-BR, en-US, es, and fr (instead of the previous regional variants es-ES and fr-FR). This improves compatibility with the Chrome Web Store's locale detection while maintaining full language support. Users in Spain, France, and all Spanish/French-speaking regions are now served the appropriate language automatically.

No Feature Changes: These are maintenance fixes only. All user-facing functionality remains unchanged.
