Tearlight AI ("Tearlight," "we," "us," or "our") is a browser extension that provides AI‑powered assistance on any webpage. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
2. Information We CollectAccount information: When you sign in, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Clerk, our authentication provider.
Queries and prompts: The text you type into Tearlight and any page context or screenshot you attach are sent to our backend server to generate an AI response.
Usage data: We track token usage (how many tokens you consume per day) to enforce plan limits.
Local preferences: Your selected AI model, keyboard shortcuts, system prompt, context level, and per‑tab conversation history are stored locally in your browser via chrome.storage.local and are never sent to our servers.

To process your AI queries and return responses.
To authenticate your account and manage your subscription plan.
To track daily token usage and enforce plan limits.
To improve the reliability and performance of our service. - Screen Capture & Page Content
Tearlight can capture a screenshot or read page content only when you explicitly trigger it via a keyboard shortcut, context menu, or button click. No screen data is captured continuously or in the background. Screenshots are sent to our server solely to generate an AI response and are not permanently stored. - Third‑Party Services
Clerk: Handles authentication. Subject to Clerk's privacy policy.
AI model providers: Queries may be routed to third‑party AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, Meta, Mistral, Qwen) to generate responses. These providers process query data according to their own privacy policies. - Data Retention
AI queries and responses are processed in real time and are not permanently stored on our servers. Per‑tab conversation history is stored locally in your browser and is automatically cleared when the tab is closed. Account information is retained for as long as your account is active. - Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is shared only with the third‑party service providers described above, solely to operate the service. - Your Rights & Choices
You can clear your local extension data at any time via your browser settings.
You can delete your account by contacting us.
You can disable screenshot capture by turning off the auto‑screenshot setting. - Security
