Works well for sites it wont break

This extension does break bing for me and i found that out after enabling half of my extensions each time and narrowing down from there until i landed on this extension that was breaking bing

so i have to disable it when i want to use bing

Are you using the all_urls permission?
I haven't had issues with the permission given or not but the only real troubleshooting is that as this manipulates elements within webpages (audio/video) and some sites tell Firefox "you're not allowed to".
If all URLs is set on some sites they won't load audio elements at all because of those annoying security policies
On other sites with relaxed security policies the extension will only be able to manipulate audio with all_urls permission because the video is an iframe loaded from a seperate site

    For some unknown reason, this extension no longer works with Firefox version 147.0.1. It prevents the page from functioning correctly by freezing Firefox, forcing me to close Firefox completely. Even after clicking "Manage Extensions," clicking the Permissions tab, and allowing "Access your data for all websites," it still works. I've tested all my extensions, and yours is the only one causing this problem. The only version that works for me is 1.1.1. Please look into what's wrong.

    Thanks to Chaython putting the source code on GitHub, you can check for yourself that everything's above board. The extension does exactly what it says on the tin!

    Mutes all audio if i try and boost it, need to unistall to get audio back

    It breaks a lot of websites that has embedded videos, even sites that don't even have videos/sound at all.

    I was using a volume manager extension on chrome that one could increase and lower volume in some increments via customizable extension shortcuts. Mine were alt+up/down arrow keys
    It'd be nice if we could do the same here. We can already bring up the volume window by an extension shortcut. Why not add a few for up and down adjustments?

    It really shouldn't the only reason it should crackle is if you turn the volume past 0db because some audio sources might peak.
    Your issue of audio crackling is usually a non-grounded auxiliary or, a high memory latency / memory bug.
    When I was on z97 and had my memory set to 2133mhz [a very high xmp value for ddr3] the audio constantly crackled when running certain applications. This can also be experienced when running with a lack of buffer while using an ASIO driver.
    Completely unrelated to the plugin itself but maybe exacerbated by it.

    If you open the popup to control the volume then on most sites that have html video it should be able to increase the volume unless the site employs a strict CSP.

    This is the best volume add on I've used, many of the others are offshoots of the most popular one, which barely changes the volume of tabs and is rather useless. One thing to note that if it is not working on certain websites ensure you go into your settings and allow it to run on websites with restrictions or it will seem as if a website is on the blacklist even if it is not.

    The channels are not individually controlled so it shouldn't if you have issues with stereo you can employ mono.

    Thanks for the spectacular extension and link to source code; it is highly appreciated since most other "volume control" extensions on Firefox are sketchy or outdated. Works very well.

    No longer works on Meta-owned sites, which are the entire reason I installed it (given Facebook videos have no volume sliders). Trying to use it on Facebook or Instagram since the latest update now causes a "This site is in the exclusions list" despite having not changed any settings on my end. I'm sure this is due to a change with Meta, but it defeats the purpose of this extension for me.

    Unless it's in the exclusion list, it shouldn't display this message. Please paste your log in the github issues..... you can also temporarily downgrade to an older edition from the github releases page or the versions page on mozilla https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/volume-control-boost-volume/versions/
