posted 4 hours agoHi, sorry this happened to you. For some reason, Firefox has wiped OneTab's storage area. Do you remember recently being asked if you want to "Refresh Firefox"? This is a prompt shown to you when you upgrade to a new Firefox version (there is a new Firefox version released every month). This feature, confusingly, wipes clean all add-on storage including OneTab's storage.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Droolio, 3 hours agoI was very wary when seeing this v2 update (in the old version I had to be careful to avoid 'Send all tabs... to OneTab', because it basically nuked everything without saving heh)... but I made a third party backup of my Firefox profile (as we all should! *hint hint*) and gave it a spin...
Really pleasantly surprised at how good the extra features are. The filtering options, much needed search, the trash - this whole update has expanded its use case. For me, it's gonna be a bit overwhelming to sort through 24k+ tabs, but at least I now have some tools to help whittle that down and have some degree of organisation.
My only slight gripe so far is the 3 panel UI, it's a bit unnecessary IMO - the Quick list and Tasks can easily share the left panel. I hope the dev takes in all the feedback and also looks into reports of data-loss for some people, coz that's obviously concerning. (Make good third-party backups, people!)Developer response
posted 43 minutes agoThanks for the feedback - please also note that there is a new "Show the OneTab action popup" option in the Options page, which shows a popup window when you click the OneTab icon instead of immediately sending all tabs in the current window to OneTab. It's possible in the future we could make the side panels more configurable, like an IDE. If you have any other feature thoughts, please let us know at one-tab.com/feedback - Rated 1 out of 5by Garvit Jain, 7 hours agoClosed multiple windows without warning immediately after installing. DO NOT INSTALL.

posted 4 hours agoHi, we've not heard of this issue happening to anyone else - OneTab is designed to only close a browser window if you click the OneTab icon to send the open tabs to OneTab.
Even if a window does get accidentally closed, you should be able to use the History menu to reopen the recently closed tabs. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19810996, 15 hours agoDown from five star because without warning, this stupid developer destroyed YEARS of accumulated saved tabs. The updated version DID NOT EVEN WORK it tried to show something but could only give me the start of a menu with flashing dots at the left as if it was doing something. Thank God there are other options for this functionality because I'm never going to trust this developer with my data ever again AND YOU SHOULDN'T TRUST THEM EITHER.

posted 4 hours agoHi, we've discovered that if you use the Tor browser (based on Firefox), or are using the regular Firefox but have configured a custom history policy to never retain any browsing data ever, it will prevent any extension including OneTab from creating an "indexeddb" database to store tabs for you. Please see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1893821 - Rated 2 out of 5by Dapper Shark, a day agoLargely I'm not that bothered by the update, I agree with folks that center align is jarring and I would like to go back to left align but alas, what does bother me though, is whenever I'm in the "one tab" tab, my scrollbar becomes so tiny that its unusable, the only option is to adjust the window which is not what I'm after.
give me a fix or fix it and I'll change the review.Developer response
posted 4 hours agoHi, I think you're referring to OneTab using narrow scrollbars instead of the regular wide scrollbars. We'll add an option for this. - Rated 5 out of 5by thedahlingdarling, a day agoI'm not one to embrace change, especially UI changes, and I don't particularly care for the center aligned look of the new update BUT - while i've been using this add on for years and its always been serviceable and worked well the latest changes have been a game changer for functionality. The ability to now easily click and drag the links around, the stream lined ability to create folders - it all works really well. I don't even know if these are new features or ones I just never figured out how to access but it's all so intuitive now and has really saved me a headache when its time to reorganize my links. This add on is a life saver for me and I'm pleased to see its gotten better and not worse in an ever increasingly enshitified internet. Thanks.

But there is one problem and I hope it will be solved soon: I need a comprehensive backup and restore of all my data! (including folders, groups, stars, etc.)
Must run locally to file (not cloud)
Currently I cannot reinstall the OS while waiting for this feature!Developer response
posted 4 hours agoThanks :) Our current roadmap is that we are working on the cloud sync and backup first, since only a cloud version will allow multiple OneTab installations to be kept instantly in sync. - Rated 3 out of 5by vexx1313, 2 days agoI've used OneTab for years and this update is what made me make an account on here just to leave this review. I love this extension but the new look is absolutely terrible. There was no need to change what was perfectly good, just because it didn't fit with the current design trends. If you're like me and dislike it, just export your tabs, remove the extension, download the previous one, and turn off updates.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14998972, 3 days ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Aich, 3 days agoI have loved OneTab for years. It has made my life infinitely easier.
I am also someone who hates change. I was quite upset a while back when an update made it so I couldn't see how many tabs were saved in a section. A tiny thing! And that's the kind of change I still don't like.
So I want to be incredibly clear that I LOVE the new update. Yes it's centre-aligned which is a little odd. Yes you still can't see the number at the top of each section.
BUT.
- You can move sections of tabs around
- You can set sections as projects/tasks
- You can ADD NOTES to a section when you add a title
- In the sidebar it now once again includes how many tabs are in a section
- SEARCH FUNCTION
This is all of the changes I didn't realise I needed or wanted (... well. Except for the moving sections around) but which all suit how I use OneTab - ways to sort tabs I want to go over and check in my own time. It also seems to have expanded the options to clarify some things and add new options with how tabs get opened? Without changing my old presets?
This is fantastic. OneTab Team? I want to be clear: I ADORE you for this. As someone who hates change, this is every change I have actually wanted from something I use.
Given I use tumblr and the hell updates we get there, this was a delightful change of pace. Thank you so much.Developer response

- Rated 1 out of 5by tim, 3 days agoNew update deleted ALL my tabs, with no warning. Insanity. How could you forget to write a migration script that imports the HTML to the new format!?
Developer response
posted 2 days agoHi, there is definitely a migration script, so there must be something else that went wrong. OneTab storage is handled by Firefox, and is stored in Firefox's internal databases. For some reason, Firefox has wiped this storage area. Do you remember recently being asked if you want to "Refresh Firefox"? This is a prompt shown to you when you upgrade to a new Firefox version (there is a new Firefox version released every month). The other possibility is if you had a browser or PC crash, which caused a disk corruption in the Firefox internal storage areas. Firefox would then wipe clean the affected storage area. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17741506, 3 days ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18747101, 3 days agowent from a 5-star extension to a 1-star (I'd give it minus 5 if I could) simple cause of the sh***y update that center-alligned everything without an option to revert it back to left allignment
STOP MESSING WITH HOW I WANT THINGS TO LOOK AND FEEL!!!
The new "ui update" is horrid, wastes so much "screen estate", and suffers from the same typical garbage "fluffy rounded cloudy corners and seperating things with 5 billion wasted pixel-space between each section" -.-
Exported tabs, uninstalled, reverted back to old version and disabled updates...
