posted 2 years agoThe "Purge all caches" button was causing people to download multi MBs of filter lists with no guarantee that the fix was present in any these lists. There is no need for that crude way of updating filter lists:
- Differential updates ensure you have most recent filters multiple times per day instead of once every 6 days
- In case a fix is added to a list and is immediately needed by a user, we provide a click-to-update link in support channels to guarantee you receive the fix with minimal bandwidth burden
Keep in mind uBO is not monetized and we can't afford to end up having to pay tens of thousands of US dollars to a CDN providers to host the lists -- this would be the end of the project.
Update 2024-01-18:
The updated anti-blocker has no effect on uBO, no fix needs to be added to the lists, so something else in your browser is causing this, and re-downloading all the lists would have accomplished nothing except pointlessly consumes bandwidth of the server.
You need to follow the instructions to the letter: https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/issues/20586

- Rated 5 out of 5by Noty Creator, a day agoIt's the best ad blocker ever. Safe, efficient, and interesting. Unlike Adblock Plus, which had vulnerabilities back in the day, uBlock Origin is more than just an ad-blocking extension. It's a must-download if ads distract you while you work. I'd give it 100 out of 100 if I could.

- Rated 2 out of 5by Steve Penstone, 4 days agouBlock recently started preventing me from accessing the comment pages on stories in the TorontoSun.com website, even though it's blocking ads throughout the website. If I disable uBlock, ads are everywhere but I can access the comment pages. Very frustrating!

- Rated 5 out of 5by nnnn20430, 5 days agoMozilla should just integrate ublock origin into firefox instead of the useless "enhanced tracking protection" since browsing the modern web without a proper ad blocker is impossible these days
