Blend In by Reşat

Blends in OS-related values in User-Agent HTTP request header & a number of JS properties, so that Firefox (Thunderbird) appears to sites visited as running on the OS being used the most in the world. Thunderbird can also be blended in as Firefox.

About this extension
Blendin' In as:
  • OS: Windows 10 (since 73.0.1), so the add-on ensures that sites visited see values that are the same as those on Windows 10 (which lately had become the OS used the most in the world). E.g., Windows 8 as Windows 10, or Linux as Windows 10, etc.
  • Architecture: Win32 (since 73.0.1 (to match default values in mozilla firefox installations)) (was Win64 (for a while since 57.0)).
  • App: optionally, Thunderbird as Firefox (by toggling extensions.tildebirlik.privacy.blend-in.messenger.thunderfoxing in about:config (since 38.0.1t31.7.0 until 55.0.3t52.3.0); restarting not required since 43.0t38.4.0)
These features are meant to lower fingerprintability, & improve privacy.

Developer comments
Limitation: the add-on does not modify the data about the OS that is exposed by Flash or Java (if you have one or both of them installed and enabled); while most sites probably don't use Flash or Java specifically for determining a user's OS, it is quite possible that some do.

Since 18.0t17.0.2 release, Windows (such as Vista or XP) installations are blended in by default as well (since 73.0.1 as Windows 10).

Pre-v57.0 Info:
Modifications made by the addon are logged in the Error Console (as well as dumped to the regular console).

If the add-on is disabled or uninstalled, all modified settings are restored by the add-on to their original values.

Release notes for 80.0.1autoversioning
* Update for Firefox 80.0.1+

- Now using auto-versioning: i.e., the version of the app will be unchanged (this is OK, since, with contributions from this addon's author, geckoTrail, & buildID no longer change for each release (i.e., version reflects the version installed; buildID, & geckoTrail reflect their "frozen" values))
-- So from now on, only platform, system & appVersion will be "Windows 10ified" (made appear as if the app was running on Windows 10)
- Platform value reflects the value resulting on most installations from automatic Firefox updates: Win32
