by jep, 5 years ago"Simple Tab Groups" has been an absolute game changer for my workflow. It is a very well thought-out extension that has allowed me to compartmentalize my work activities greatly. I normally have multiple windows open, separated by activity. In fact, I usually have upwards of 6 windows, with each averaging upwards of 20 tabs, for everything from different Jupyter Python projects to researching different topics to general web browsing. It was a nightmare keeping track of which was which, I lived in constant fear of losing papers or web resources I had found or of simply losing the structure I had in those windows, and the associated RAM usage would periodically slow my machines to a crawl. "Simple Tab Groups" has completely solved these issues.
ORGANIZATION: Simple Tab Groups allows you to name groups and, with the setting enabled, display their names in the window title. I can much more easily manage multiple windows by using these two features.
HISTORIES / ORGANIZATION: Tab groups are stored, with customizable backups created daily by default, so that I can quit Firefox or restart my machine and simply reopen the tab group with the tab structure I'd previously tailored. .
MEMORY: When RAM usage becomes an issue, I can simply close groups with the secure knowledge that I can easily reopen those groups when I need them again. There is also a specific option to save RAM when tabs are hidden, but I haven't found it necessary to use this option. Many of the groups I create are only needed once a week or less. I can now simply keep those windows closed until I come back around to that project, so that my RAM usage now generally stays low.
Finally, this extension also works well with Firefox's "Multi-Account Containers" extension. I have used both together for weeks with zero conflicts on either a Mac or Ubuntu 18. My only concern with this extension is that I am becoming highly reliant on it, and if Drive4ik ceases developing and supporting it, I would be hard-pressed to find a combination of trustworthy (i.e., Mozilla-recommended) tools that work as well as this one extension does. Thank you for your excellent work, Drive4ik! Would love to support you monetarily as well.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Trent Meyer, 15 days agoWhen it works, great extension. Can't close Firefox though as I always lose my tab groups. When manually restoring from a backup, Firefox will just crash. I end up trying several backups before one finally loads my tabs, and of course they're not the exact ones I want.

Unfortunately, it’s been broken for months. Even when I manage to get it working temporarily, it often loses my saved groups or fails to restore them properly. The restore feature is inconsistent at best.
It seems Firefox updates may have caused compatibility issues, which is understandable, but I wish the developer had continued maintaining it. This app is leagues ahead of Firefox’s recent native tab grouping, which feels limited and clunky by comparison.
I’m holding off on uninstalling it because I still hope for a fix. The moment it’s stable again, I’ll gladly update my rating to 5 stars. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 16291059, a month agoAlmost everything I could possibly want, and it almost brings Firefox up to parity with OperaGX's workspaces (though it surpasses it in others). Almost.
Pinned tabs and Firefox's native tab groups tend to 'leak' (for lack of a better term) through the groups in this extension. - Rated 4 out of 5by Gabiru, a month agoUnfortunately no longer working with Floorp browser version 144.0.2@12.3.5

- Rated 1 out of 5by Gluttony, 2 months agoI was loving this, until I lost all groups when coming back to work today, all was fine Friday... I'll try redoing them, and after looking in options I saw there are backup/restore options, I hope it works, else I'll have to fine something else.
Edit: finally I saw there are automatic backups and was able to restore last one, give 4 stars, not 5 that would have been if I did not lost all groups in the first time.
Edit again: I should have looked better, yes all my groups have been restored, counters of tabs seems good, but there are missing tabs, when I change group it just jumps to a tab keeping others (from other groups) open, and do other weird stuff... And now its even worse that before I restored... Too sad... - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 10019882, 2 months agoBasic functions work: in management mode, drag & drop one tab list item to another group; switch to group. The biggest problem is memory usage after long time usage of Firefox v 143 on a Mac Tahoe (not sure of other OS). The memory usage jumped from around 1GB to 7GB after upgrading MacOS to Tahoe version. In the background, must be keeping other OLD tabs in groups already closed but still open (not sure contents of pages already loaded). When I disabled this extension, suddenly more than 20 tabs popped out when total opened tab in all groups were about 7. Plus, Firefox now has implemented tab grouping feature same as Chrome: to collapse tabs into 1 group tab.

- Rated 4 out of 5by monkeypee, 3 months agoi keep having issues with previous session not opening, and normally i can just click "restore previous session" and it returns all the tabs to the correct groups but i had a guy clean my pc today and he didn't restore session before closing and reopening again (which makes the option dissapear). which left me with "reopen all tabs" in recently closed, and not only did it not restore them all, they were not in groups after restoring. well, the extension only made the experience slightly worse but i needed somewhere to vent i guess lol. becareful out there if you cherish your tabs
