Preview of Yahoo Mail Hide Ad Panel

Yahoo Mail Hide Ad Panel by Piyush Soni

Permanently hides the Ads panel on the right side of New Yahoo! Mail, the 'Sponsored' email at the Top, and ads on the Left to give you a full-width Premium email experience for free! The other option, of course is to pay $50 a year to Yahoo! Inc. :)

About this extension
Latest Beta version of Yahoo mail now completely supported! Please let me know if it doesn't work for some geographical locations.

With the latest version, this add-on now turns your free email to be completely equivalent to "Yahoo Ad Free Mail" except for one thing - they might still deactivate your account if you don't use it for a long time. But you wouldn't come here if you really didn't want to use your Yahoo mail :).

What's new!
  • Now supports the 'old' Yahoo Mail Basic as well for those who are still using it (though in a limited manner). Why should those users suffer so much?

What's this all about? : Yahoo Mail, though revamped last October, continued to be plagued with (even more of) the obnoxious ads banner at the right side which takes around 30% or more of your screen, the Top 'Sponsored' email which you accidentally click many times in order to open an actual mail (they probably want that), and ads at the left. If you don't want these ads, Yahoo used to charge $20 every year, which they recently increased to $50 per year for no reason. This is pure greed, so I decided to give this whole Yahoo Ad-Free Mail experience to everyone for free.

Doesn't Adblock Plus do that already, like hiding ads and all? : No. First, Adblock plus hides only some of the ads and takes money from big corporations to allow some other. For many users, it doesn't hide sponsored emails or the ads at the left corner. Second, even after hiding some ads it cannot recover the area that was consumed by those ads, like the banner ads at the right. This add-on takes care of all of that to make it really ad free.

Note: The add-on currently does not work on Firefox for Android or any version other than the desktop.

Thanks for the great response and comments so far! If it doesn't work for your country due to different Yahoo layout there, please email me (using the Support Email) with more details, and I'll try to make it work there as well.
