by vurrtical, 3 years agoI really enjoy the quality of life that this add-on provides as someone just starting to study Japanese. However, while it does work well and is informative, I have encountered a problem using it in Google Docs and a few other sites where I cannot scroll through a selection's entries as 10ten's pop-up remains static and does not scroll down along with the page I am on. This leaves me able to only read the first handful of entries even if there are more to choose using the dictionary copy function. I did see that there was a feature request on GitHub (#555) that asked about scrolling/stepping through entries and I would absolutely second that idea.
I really do appreciate the work you've put into this extension as it has immediately helped provide context to a lot of my reading and studying so far, all without needing to copy/paste and look things up through Jisho or other services. I'm eagerly waiting for what new features you have cooking up for us c:

posted 3 years agoThank you so much. That's very helpful feedback. I will certainly prioritize being able to scroll through the entries. Hopefully we can tackle that for the next release. Thank you again!

Once you look up the word, you can find the kanji decomposition. It's detailed and easy at the same time. Please try.Developer response

- Rated 5 out of 5by Shaitan Venit, 4 months agoAmazing extension, this is going to help me a lot to learn Japanese. One feature I wish it had is to display furigana over kanji when on hover. That aside, I'm glad I found this extension. Good job!

posted 6 months agoHi hhoganmc, I'm sorry to hear it's not working for you. Would you be able to contact me at info@birchill.co.jp so we can try to work out what's wrong?
You'll need to activate the add-on after pinning it to the toolbar or pressing Alt+R. I hope that helps!- Rated 5 out of 5by Boris Chiou, 6 months agoThis is very easy to use. The Japanese accent is really useful when I look up the new words and try to speak them.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14009125, a year agothe bundled font change is jarring, I'd much rather use a font that is consistent with my system. The "a" used to have a hat (not round) and the characters used to have smaller proportions, for example.
That aside... it's quite good at recognizing words.Developer response
posted a year agoThank you! That's very good feedback. I've filed an issue at https://github.com/birchill/10ten-ja-reader/issues/1799 and will see what other users think of the change.
At very least, we can restore the hat on the "a" very easily and we could add an option to use a system font too.
Update: We've just released a new version (1.19.1) which adds a setting to use system fonts. Thanks for the feedback! - Rated 5 out of 5by willow, a year agoIncredibly useful for immersion reading and it's even really decent for reading things in chinese! the wanikani/bunpro features are a nice touch too
