- Rated 3 out of 5by NicCrimson, 7 months agoWorks really well, Recently there is a bug where it mutes the tab's audio when searching and has to reload to get back audio. Also can't use because of error:
"Recognition failed: authorization failed: no api_token passed and the limit was reached. Get an api_token from dashboard.audd.io and make sure you're passing the token in the `api_token` parameter."Developer response
posted 17 days agoReally sorry about the experience! We’ve now fixed the issues & bugs related to audio recording!
Starting with version 3.2.4 (it's live now! you can update the extension in Extensions -> Settings -> Check for Updates), audio should not be muted on any websites, and audio recording should work perfectly almost everywhere, including basically all video players.
(Thanks for taking the time to write the review! It marginally prompted us to actually spend effort figuring out the issue, getting help from the community, and finally fixing it. That took hundreds of lines of fairly complicated code.) - Rated 1 out of 5by IndiePat, 7 months ago"Requires" very suspicious optional permissions it will prompt you for such as accessing data for all websites. It works perfectly fine without the permission so I worry it is selling information.

posted 7 months agoYou can find the extension's source code at https://github.com/AudDMusic/firefox-extension.
On many streaming websites, the audio source is in an iframe/embedded content, which the extension can't access to record audio without that permission.
The only information the extension sends us is information about the current tab when the add-on is opened and the corresponding recorded audio.
We do not sell any user information. - Rated 5 out of 5by GODIE, 7 months ago
- Rated 2 out of 5by Mijehake, 7 months agoMutes audio in the browser in which you are trying to record for recognition, have to reload page for this..

posted 17 days agoThis issue should be fixed in the latest version of the extension! - Rated 1 out of 5by DanologyUK, 7 months ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18727640, 8 months agoI have used it only on YouTube and it managed to find all the songs so far, even those that were overlapped with someone's voice or other sound effects. Will change my review if enshittification happens.
- Rated 4 out of 5by william, 8 months agoWorked great the first few times I've used it, but now whenever I try and identify a song on YouTube (and other sites) using this, I get this error:
"Recognition failed: authorization failed: no api_token passed and the limit was reached. Get an api_token from dashboard.audd.io and make sure you're passing the token in the `api_token` parameter."
What should I do because I don't want to pay for the API thing?
edit 2/23/2025: it somehow started working again I guess? the audio mutes when I activate the extension but it actually recognized some of the song I played.Developer response

We do not sell any user information. The extension does not show any ads.- Rated 2 out of 5by Mikaïl, 9 months agoDidn't work 20% of the time.
Didn't give me the right song 50% of the time.
And gave me songs that didn't exist 30% of the time.
Two stars because it at least worked once. - Rated 5 out of 5by mooney, 9 months ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by PWN3D_, 9 months agoI've tested this extension and for some times now and while it's being really great and responsive, something doesn't really work correctly on the Firefox extension only.
I have tested the AudD extension on both Firefox and Chrome, and it appears that the Firefox extension has an issue at the end of song identification.
In Chrome, when initiating a song search, there is an audible cut (similar to a pop) when the extension begins listening, and another when it either identifies the song or fails to do so, which is expected behavior.
However, in Firefox, the initial cut is heard when starting a song search, but not when it ends; the issue arises when any subsequent song is played in the same tab, producing the cut/pop at the beginning of each song, as if the extension continues to listen even when inactive.
The only solution seems to be refreshing the tab after using AudD to prevent the cut/pop from occurring when a new sound plays from the same tab.Developer response
posted 17 days agoThanks for reporting it; this bug should now be fixed for most websites. - Rated 5 out of 5by Dream, 9 months ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by The_Mechanic, 10 months agoI was using aha-music before this and this addon has really opened my eye with just how awful aha is. This extension finds exact songs that are exclusive to websites I haven't even heard of before, nuts

- Rated 5 out of 5by Madeyoulook, 10 months agoWas skeptical at first because of the amount of one stars, but it actually works great. Has given me no problems whatsoever.

- Rated 4 out of 5by dbaser, 10 months agoChanged my original 1-star review to 4 stars after reading Developer response. I was originally under the impression that this requires Sign Up and is only a Free Trial of an extension. I thought this for a few reasons:
1) Before using, I read other reviews stating the same thing.
2) When I first tried to use it without an API token, it did not find any songs I tried. I then opened Settings and saw a field for an API token and the words "API token, paste it below" and thought that it must not work without an API token. I signed up for the API token (not knowing the API is a separate product) and after creating an account the dashboard shows that the user is on a 2-week Free Trial. I thought this applied to the extension, not the API.
3) There is a link on the main extension page to a Privacy Policy which differed from the one I read on the API dashboard, which further contributed to my impression that it is a paid extension, as I was unaware they are two separate products.
Now that I have read the Developer response, when I go to Settings, I can clearly see that it reads "If you're subscribed to the AudD® Music recognition API and have an API token, paste it below." I didn't notice this at first and thought the API token was required.
I have tried it and you can indeed use the extension to find songs without any API token. I gave the extension four stars instead of five only because the AHA extension is still better at actual song recognition. Thanks for the response developer! My apologies for assuming the worst in my original review.Developer response
posted 10 months agoApologies for causing confusion; the extension does not require a sign-up. You can use it without an API token. The API token field is for people with an active subscription. The free trial is for our API product and shouldn’t be used in the extension; the extension works without an API account and is completely free.
Extension users are subject to the add-on's privacy policy. Website sign-ups are not required to use the add-on.
(Thanks for taking the time to review! It’s valuable to know people might think a token is required; we’ll make changes to make it clear that it’s not.
Users can also reach us at hello@audd.io).
If there are any particular songs AHA recognizes that we don't, please also let us know- our music recognition accuracy should be higher on average - Rated 1 out of 5by Josxy, 10 months agoDoesn't work on Reddit. It just says "start error: can't find any unpaused media elements." when a video is playing.
Developer response
posted 10 months agoUnfortunately, some websites play audio in isolated elements, which prevents it from being captured by a Firefox extension. On Reddit, the solution would be to mention u/auddbot, which will identify the song. Alternatively, you can use our Chrome extension. - Rated 4 out of 5by OKDmrz, 10 months agoMusic recognition works pretty well, but I think the widget could use some UI improvements. Like managing individual songs from the history (not just clear the entire list) and also a way to just view the list even if current tab is still playing music. Also synchronizing listening history across different devices would be great.
Developer response
posted 10 months agoThanks, we'll take these improvements into consideration. Everything except for synchronizing the history seems very doable!
