by Firefox user 15346968, 3 years agoEver scratch your head and wonder why, year after year, Firefox does not provide some obviously useful capability? It's because third-party developers do it for them! This is a typical instance. Firefox gives you two alternatives for a new tab: Firefox Home Page and Blank Page. Um, why not your personalized home page? Easy, and makes sense, no? But year after year . . . Anyway, New Tab Override does the job; you can set a new tab for any destination that you like. And, BONUS: There is an option to "Set focus to the web page instead of the address bar." So, if you want a search engine to appear and you don't feel comfortable using the address bar for searching, use this option to save yourself a click. Like Bookmark Organizer, the developer gets a donation for this add-on.

- Rated 4 out of 5by joefiesta, 4 months agoIt was working fine. But, no longer. I have chosen custom URL (https ://www google com /advanced_search). It doesn't go there upon opening new tab.
It may have been updating firefox to 136.0.4. (spaces added to URL - review does not allow otherwise)
EDIT: Okay, now I got it work. I had to uninstall it and re-install. Something Firefox did somewhere broke it, but I can't say what. I certainly never touched it. Developer response

It was a feature in „vanilla Firefox“ in the past, but it was abused by bad players and therefore Mozilla was forced to remove the option. But at the same time they gave extension developers the ability. So we have to be thankful to Mozilla.- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17434746, 5 months agoThe Bets! But, I can't donate through paypal cus they charge a fee! Suggest Venmo or other donation platform because PayPal is also run by APartheid NaXis!

It was possible several years ago, but Mozilla had to take this option from Firefox because hijacking was a real problem at that time. But we should be thankful, because Mozilla provided a WebExtension API on the first time when they removed this option. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18771567, 7 months ago
