by clivejo, 3 months agoDespite paying for Pass Plus until 4th August 2025, Proton downgraded me to a free account because I subscribed for VPN!! Apparently you can't have two plans on your account unless you sub to the "Unlimited Plan". No, I don't want Drive, Calender, Mail or Wallet, I wanted Pass and VPN. Stinks of Micro$oft behaviour! Been trying to sort it out with support via ticket for 10 days, who just reply with nonsense. Migrating back to BitWarden, so bye bye Proton.
Reply to Proton - "you're free to utilize only the services that you have use of" as long as we pay for the "Unlimited Plan" I paid for Pass Plus up until 4th August 2025 and I am NOT free to use the services I paid for, because Proton took them away from me!! This is greedy and immoral behaviour, like a shop saying the only way for me to purchase 2 t-shirts is to buy a pack of 7! But 5 of the T-shirts I will never use because they are ugly and will NEVER wear them! This is nothing more than Proton engaging in up-selling for greed and profit, not caring about loyal customers, plain and simple!

posted 3 months agoWe're very sorry to hear that. Note that it is indeed not possible to have two different subscriptions, such as Pass Plus and VPN Plus, active on your Proton account simultaneously. The Proton Unlimited plan gives you access to the premium features of both our Pass and VPN services, as well as the other services that are part of Proton's ecosystem. That said, you're free to utilize only the services that you have use of.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 19484692, 4 days agoIt's perfect! BTW There are some disadvantages - I did not find how to add my own preferable email (not proton's one). If I pay for the app, I want the freedom to choose default email.

- Rated 2 out of 5by Anna, 10 days agoI really like the Proton suite overall.
However, the authentication process for Proton Pass is just... not working properly.
Either:
- I don’t set a separate password for Proton Pass (keep the same password as my Proton account), then Proton Pass extension allows anyone who is logged into my browser to use my passwords without asking first for authentication.
Or:
- I set a specific password for Proton Pass. Then I am asked to first log in to my Proton account with my regular password, and then log in again to Proton Pass with my Proton Pass password. And yet, the extension continues to ask me to “activate Proton Pass” by authenticating... so I’m unable to use my passwords.
This is so confusing. In the first case, why isn’t the extension asking for the Proton password before activation? In the second case, why doesn’t it accept only(!!) the Proton Pass password and start working?
(Thankfully, I have my KeePass manager as a backup.)Developer response
posted 9 days agoHello! Thank you for your feedback Anna. You could add a PIN to unlock the browser extension if you prefer not to set a separate password for Proton Pass.
After setting an extra password for Proton Pass, the extension will require you to provide your original password and your extra password on the first login, afterwards it should only require the extra password.
Can you please reach out to us at https://proton.me/support/contact so we can help you troubleshoot and clarify further?
