Read Aloud: A Text to Speech Voice Reader by LSD Software

by Orion Pax, 10 months agoThis is a single best extension that I have ever used in all of my History of using Internet. I have always found the read aloud feature on edge very superior and that is something that had kept me on edge for quite a few while. At once I wasn't very impressed of the Piper voices, because I was so used to the Microsoft Eva online voices, which Microsoft provides. So I decided to use narrator on my own PC as a replacement, and thought that I wouldn't use this extension. And so I decided to download those voices on my narrator app But working with narrator is kinda hard because it's not made for people who want to read articles It's mostly made for people who have visual impairment. so i decided to go back And thought to myself that maybe I should stick to read out aloud piper voices and not bother about using anything else. But as soon as I was exploring the settings section, I realised that read aloud has automatically imported all of those voices, which is excellent and absolute beast. 😭😭😭😭😎😎😎😎😎. I'will talk to the creators of this add on so that they know it themselves. So it's implemented within the extension by default. becoz those voices are quite good. heck natural reader also uses them

- Rated 4 out of 5by Peca, 3 days agoIt's a quite good tool. It allows to listen article or web. Is is especially good when walking or have something other to do (like dish, laundry...). The voice synthesis is sometimes weird which is rather an issue of selected TTS engine than extension itself.
The most annoying flaw is loosing position in a long text when paused or internet signal lost. This mean manually locate part of text where to continue. Any search function or automatic bookmark insertion would be very useful. - Rated 5 out of 5by Seän "frostbyte" Shepherd, 4 days ago

- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 19538464, 11 days agoRead Aloud has been great, but recently (about 20/10/25) the usual English options all got replaced by a lower quality robotic voice. And while Piper is an option and was recommended, none of the options were suitable for me now matched the higher quality reading of the voice I was familiar with. Please can this be undone? This extension is near unusable for me. I just wish to give my user experience on these voices

- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 17317368, 2 months agoTried to use it in Firefox on Mint: The voices are straight out of a horror movie. Not close to reality a bit and horrifying at the same time. There is one called female whisper, and it sounds like a witch whispering to you in a dark forest in a dead of night while you are sleeping.
- Rated 4 out of 5by GollumsRing, 2 months agoExcellent extension. It would be great if it could omit pronouncing the citations at the end of sentences as well as being able to pause after a period in the sentence. Also, if it could avoid reading hyperlinks, that would be cool too. Otherwise, its 5 stars
