About this extension
This extension will allow you to open PDFs without them downloading onto your device. You can still choose to download the PDF if you choose to. The default will now be to view the PDF in your browser.

Setup

1. After installing the extension right click it and select "Manage" extension.
2. Click on the permissions tab.
3. Click on the toggle button for the "Access your data for all websites" option.

Test

1. Disable the extension.
2. Open a new tab.
3. Highlight with your mouse by dragging it over the URL like text and copy it. https://www.researchgate.net/profile/M-Vinay-Kumar/post/Can-anyone-suggest-me-case-study-of-ground-improvement-through-vacuum-consolidation/attachment/5c4e868e3843b0544e62b27d/AS%3A719904953094144%401548650124561/download/Ground_Improvement_Case_Histories_hANSBO.pdf Paste into the new tab and hit enter. Make sure you don't click on the link on this page as Mozilla's link checking service will break the link.
3. It will download to your device.
4. Enable the extension.
5. Open a new tab.
6. Make sure you don't click on the link on this page as Mozilla's link checking service will break the link.
6. It will open in your browsers built-in PDF viewer.

If it does not you have not set the permissions correctly from the Setup step.

This extension requests permissions to see data related to all URLs that contain a PDF. This is the most restrictive I can make this extension while also keeping it useful.

You may need to update the permissions for this plugin again by following the Setup section at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/viewpdfinbrowser/

Change log.

Update URL matching regular expression.

I noticed that for certain PDFs they were still downloading.

This was due to the URl matching regex not picking up URLs that included
query params, fragments or paths.

.e.g. ?version=1656754949 at the end of the URL would break the URL matching regex.

This would cause the plugin to not even run on that URL so there would be no header rewrite.
