Inadequate documentation, blocks certain sites with no indication why?
Have to be an html programmer to understand most of the settings.
6-12-24: Still seriously lacking documentation. You have to be an html/script programmer to use it effectively. Very obtuse, no examples given of how to use it. Probably just makes your ID MORE obvious rather than less obvious.
12-17-22: You need a test site to see if the settings you make on Chameleon can be identified as fake. If they can using this addon is a BAD idea since the sites will know you're lying and you can be blocked on that basis. Needs more documentation to explain which settings to use and which will block sites. Most who use this are not programmers and therefore more documentation/explaination is needed. In my experience it works on some sites and not on others. I'd bet money that Fbook will block and or delete your profile is u use this addon.
so far the only add-on I have seen that CLAIMS to do what it does. Problem is there is no way to verify the site your connecting to does not see your spoof settings are PHONEY and there is nothing in their documentation to help you decide what you can get away with.'
Has gotten worse over time. Interferes with vpn proxy alerts. You have to close those to open settings on chameleon. Slow to load, sometimes won't and you have to restart browser. Conflicts with hoxx proxy or any proxy that tries to give small right and bottom alerts. program cannot then open settings until you close the proxy alerts. Otherwise good. Good documentation. Still need more documentation and tutorials as sites are getting pretty sophisticated in blocking/profiling browsers and detecting chameleon settings. - Rated 5 out of 5by szedar1, 4 years ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by the_dragonlord, 4 years agoThis add-on is awesome. My only true issue is that the mobile options clash with certain sites requiring desktop formats or certain browsers. This is understandable though. To remedy this, I disabled all classing browser options, including the all mobile browsers, Edge, and Firefox ESR.
Try the following site to test Chameleon after choosing your options:

Once tested, refresh the page and test it again. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 16721279, 4 years ago

posted 4 years agoHi,
You can test your referer here: https://www.darklaunch.com/tools/test-referer to verify that disabling it work as intended. If you're still encountering issues with the referer please open an issue here: https://github.com/sereneblue/chameleon/issues. - Rated 5 out of 5by Roy R, 4 years agoNice Addon.

2. You addon is not able to fetch IP to timezone details and throws error when Timzone is set to IP address. It says "Unable to connect"
3. Please add Navigator spoofing. So that your addon can spoof navigator details to match useragent.
4. Please add support for WEBGL vendor and renderer spoofing to relative useragent.
5. Please provide BTC address so that this addon can be supported by Donations.

posted 4 years agoHi,
1. Older browser profiles are generally not kept because of auto updates in modern browsers.
2. This issue should be resolved now. This may have been caused because of Cloudflare.
3. Chameleon already spoofs the navigator.
4. This may be added in a future update.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 16477347, 4 years agoThis extension is so great ! I'm using only the user agent spoofing which is great, it uses common UAs and works well compared to "random user agent" extension (which is not even open source).
I'm using it in combination to CanvasBlocker which I prefer to know what sites have requested, but the choice is hard between these 2 outstanding extensions.
Thank you !
The only "issue" I had is I cannot prevent website from detecting my GPU. - Rated 5 out of 5by FoxTL, 4 years agoDoes this work with TOR browser? I only want to change the OS randomly in the headers, but am also concerned about privacy and anti-tracking. I do not know what all the settings mean in this addon. How to maintain privacy and avoid tracking on TOR while using this addonn?
Developer response
posted 4 years agoHi,
Chameleon can work with the Tor Browser although that somewhat defeats the purpose of using it. The Tor Browser tries to maintain a uniform browser fingerprint across all platforms. It might be a bit extreme for daily usage. I suggest checking out the wiki to learn more about Chameleon and some other privacy resources: https://sereneblue.github.io/chameleon/wiki. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12861997, 4 years agoThis is a pretty good addon! i totally recommend it
