- Rated 1 out of 5by taosk8r, 5 years agoSo, I decided to turn this back on, after trying this extension called 'Night Mode Pro' and finding it worked flawlessly where others had failed me. Went to google calendar, and was instantly reminded why I disabled this one: 'an extension is causing the page to load slow' or whatever it says.
Edit: this guy in another review has the exact wording, so Im gonna steal his image link:

I can reenable the darktheme and it works but thats a thing I wont do everytime i open firefox. Get it fixed, Im on Dark Night Mode plugin whilst this problem exists
- Rated 1 out of 5by teecee, 5 years agoSorry, 5-star if it works ...
But on so many sites (i.e. getabstract.com) it hangs and blocks complete firefox for minutes and minutes with a circling ball.
switching to light again: everything runs like a charm.
hoping for an update (I would change to 5-star again)! - Rated 1 out of 5by Jerry, 5 years agoDark Reader is a fine extension that works like charm but then if it is so why 1 star. Reasons?

On a lot of sites, it works like it is killing the browser and browsing experience and most of the time, browsers dies and we have to start again by disabling or stopping the extension thus losing data. Tabs behave like they have been brought under a lot of pressure and they cannot handle it anymore.
Plus, the settings look great but not that appealing. If I have set certain settings on a certain web link and different on another, it doesn't remember when we are browsing again in a new session another time.
Also, my suggestions are also for adding modes for reading, viewing, watching, eye straining or more which dev can learn from other such apps or softwares.
Plus, I have some doubts about privacy and whether or not, this extension overshadows and records via facility it provides what we are doing when extension is enabled,
I hope dev will understand and see the link which i have provided to understand why i support this extension and will overcome these issues as soon as possible.

- Rated 1 out of 5by John Corliss, 6 years agoWorked pretty much as advertised, but it calls out to Github. IMO, there's no reason for any extension to be calling home unless I allow it, and there's no option to stop this behavior so I'm removing this extension.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15242543, 6 years ago確かに画面は見易くなりましたが、CPUへの負担が大きいようです。ページを表示するのに時間が掛かる様になりました。もっと軽く動作する拡張機能に改善して欲しいですね。
- Rated 1 out of 5by Prabesh, 6 years agoOnly works properly with Chrome. On firefox, its way bad then u can imagine.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15214010, 6 years agoWhen you enable dark mode it doesn't work properly. Also what is not mentioned is that if you try to scan a QR in e.g. whatsapp web it doesn't work until you disable dark mode.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15118195, 6 years agoДелает свою работу хорошо. Но пользоваться не возможно - слишком сильно замедляет рендеринг любого сайта, словно скорость интернета времен диал-апа.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 12899669, 6 years agofrequently would not work. Especially if you open up a page and it would work. However if you went to a different Tab and came back to that first page it would not be functioning...

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15027795, 6 years agoReally, really, really bad performance on every website. If you like the speed of your browsing to go back to Dial Up ages, install this Extension.
Also, I don't understand why half of the options do not work. "Ignore-List", as you called it, does not work. On multiple occasions I try to add a domain, and it still does not ignore it and still makes it dark.
Also, why isn't there an option to enable this only on the website you are, and not everything on the web. If you want this extension on, you either have to turn it on for all, and then fiddle with that buggy not-working "ignore-list". Can't it be a "Whitelist", to be used by the extension, not an "Ignore List". This is the stupidest implementation of a feature I have ever seen. Why can't I choose the sites I want this enabled for, and I instead I have to choose for which I want it disabled. There are a lot of sites that have dark mode features built into them, and I have to go through every one of those, add them to the ignore list, and then find out that the ignore list does nothing. What a waste of precious time...
All in all, I slowed down my performance for weeks now because of this shoddy extension. There are other extensions that are simpler and faster and will do the same thing but will actually work without making your every day tasks a living hell.
I have actually been following this since a lot of time, and it has gotten worse now. The developer clearly likes to put on fancy features that boggle down your hardware resources, instead of making them work. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15016027, 6 years ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14976090, 6 years agoThis extension breaks more websites than it fixes. I didn't realize it was this extension that broke Twitch for me. Video stutters, freezing, etc. Many pictures won't load on websites with this on, either. Overall it needs more work/optimization.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14973436, 6 years agoIt does its job, which is to turn dark mode on for all websites. But it really slows down the browser too much.
As another user suggested, I'm using Midnight Lizard now which is more highly customizable and it doesn't slow the browser down as much as Dark Reader.
