- Rated 1 out of 5by Bex, 3 days agoAdd's an AI chatbot named Perplexity for you to use instead of a search engine.
They talk about water and energy consumption of AI in their about section so its unbelievable this is part of it. Perplexity uses the same logo as this addon and it was removed from firefox when I removed this extension.Developer response
posted 17 hours agoThis is simply not true. This addon does not add any AI chatbots and the logo is not the same as Perplexity. Firefox added Perplexity as a search engine option recently, and this developer had nothing to do with that. https://blog.mozilla.org/en/firefox/firefox-144/
Also, the source code for this addon is open and available for review to see that all we do is add CSS to hide page elements and block or redirect specific url requests. https://github.com/jruns/disable-ai - Rated 5 out of 5by luni.ART.ic, 7 days agoCreated a profile just for this. Amazing plugin, I can finally use Google search without having to scroll forever!

Testing it in Android/Firefox now.
How does it do it?
Edit: found this in GitHub, thanks!

- Rated 5 out of 5by Daniel, 2 months agoThis extension is very power to disable AI overview. I am very like their solution: Stop all actions, requests of AI overviews. I used it on my laptop, so good. Thanks for your help.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17957926, 2 months agoThis is the ONLY anti-AI extension that still blocks Google's AI slop on mobile. 5/5
- Rated 5 out of 5by shinae, 3 months agoThis is amazing!
Most AI blocking add-ons merely hide it from search results, but this one blocks it altogether which is what I've been looking for.
I hate that the forced implementation of AI in search engines is contributing to the depletion of drinking water, pollution of marginalized communities, rapidly rising electricity costs, and spread of misinformation.
None of us consented to this!
Tools like this help us opt out of being complicit.
Forever grateful and will spread the word about its existence! - Rated 5 out of 5by lee terry, 3 months agoWas looking for a way to disable this crap by default on brave search till I asked using the "ask ai" button.
The setting for that gets cleared when I close my browser along with a ton of other data and it defaults always on (meaning I had to reset the option every time I closed the browser).
So, I got this and set it on my bar at the top. Now, when I wanna search and ask AI right away I click the icon in the top of my browser, then change the addon settings from "always allow" to "on click" only to revert the change back after I am finished. Plus, if I wanna ask after I search I can just click the ask button and it works even with the addon running.
It does the job I wanted perfectly, that is worth it at least 4 stars, but the fact that its easy to use warranted 5 imo. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 19476224, 3 months ago

Developer response
posted 4 months agoMicrosoft appears to have completely removed the option in Bing to turn off Copilot answers (AI overviews). DuckDuckGo is an alternative that uses Bing as one of their results sources, along with others, and is more privacy-focused. - Rated 5 out of 5by ChaosCloud, 4 months agoBigTech loves shoving AI slop up our arses. This must-have extension increases QoL exponentially.
