It works. It's obvious that it's not seamingless and integrated and doesn't give the perfect youtube experience, but it works. Even invidious failed so this is my only option to not give away more of my data to google. Highly recommend
Edit: as of 24th july 2024 it no longer works. It was good while it lasted
Edit #2: I checked on the website it took info from: youtube blocks its access too so this needs core redesigning to work, I guess
Edit #3: so piped.video works(it's another front end to youtube). You just paste from youtube.com/watch?v=[video id here]
the /watch part into piped.video in this manner: piped.video/watch?v=[video id here]. I tested it on youtube.com/watch?v=aOOImvPPSIQ which works fine normally(not an inappropriate video, just scam-baiting by the youtuber Kitboga) into piped.video/watch?v=aOOImvPPSIQ
