Data Collection
Boil It Down does NOT collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. All data remains local to your browser.

What We Store Locally
Saved Recipes: Recipes you choose to save are stored in your browser's local storage only

User Preferences: Settings like dark mode, auto-declutter, and language preferences

Translation Cache: Translated recipe text to improve performance and reduce API calls

What We DON'T Collect

NO personal information

NO browsing history

NO data sent to external servers (except translation APIs when you choose to translate)

NO analytics or tracking

NO cookies

Third-Party Services
When you use the translation feature, recipe text is sent to one of these free translation services: - MyMemory Translation API (default): Text is translated using MyMemory's public API - LibreTranslate: Open-source translation service

These services process only the recipe text you choose to translate. We recommend reviewing their respective privacy policies.

Permissions Explained
activeTab: Required to detect recipe pages and display decluttered content

storage: Required to save your preferences and cached recipes locally in your browser

scripting: Required to inject the decluttered recipe view into web pages

host_permissions (translation APIs): Required only when you use the translation feature

Data Security
All data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage API. No data is transmitted to our servers because we don't have any servers.

Your Control
You can clear all saved recipes at any time from the extension settings

You can clear translation cache from the extension settings

Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data

Children's Privacy
Boil It Down does not collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy
We will update this privacy policy as needed. The "Last Updated" date will reflect changes.
