by rosekitsune1, 7 years agoI use Firefox Nightly 62 64 bit on my Windows 10 April 2018 laptop. And I can't get CleanUrl 1.2.2.8 to work in privacy browsing. The icon shows up but... in the drop down menu I try to flip a switch on it flips but as soon as I... close the drop down menu the switch flips off and it does this every time, Also all the text below the name and version does not show up at all. And the Oops something went wrong button! shows up And this only happens when I'm in privacy browsing in non privacy browsing CleanUrl 1.2.2.8 works just fine. Thank you

Unfortunately, this is a well-known bug of the WebExtensions API that we have no control over. We would have to rewrite the entire addon, so that the pop-up window is also displayed in private mode. But the addon still filter in private mode the URLs correctly, it just can not be displayed. Please also see the official Bugreport from Mozilla: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1329304
This "bug" annoys a lot of developers of addons, because it is an unnecessary limitation of Mozilla, which makes it very difficult for the developers to develop their addons. We may eventually rewrite the addon and try to work around that limitation. But that means very much work for us, for which we first have to find time.
EDIT: ClearURLs works in version 1.5a also in the private mode (Incognito).

- Rated 4 out of 5by jcfyre, 2 days agoVERY good extension. But as of recently when I try to access the logs in ClearURLs it gives me this message: “The page at ClearURLs says:
DataTables warning: table id=logTable - i18n file loading error. For more information about this error, please see datatables net/tn/21” I left https out of net/tn/21 since mozilla doesnt allow URLs in reviews. I am not sure what to do. Also, on both the desktop and mobile versions of this extension, changing the color for the theme in ClearURL settings never actually changes it, but rather just keeps resetting back to orange no matter the selection. - Rated 5 out of 5by ramiel, 5 days ago

- Rated 3 out of 5by ie, 19 days agoIt's great until it's not. In my case a [var]=/[value] becomes [var]=%2F[value] and broke the website. Please consider, for the least, adding a whitelist function.

- Rated 2 out of 5by JB, a month agoGood for Amazon, but really buggy for other stuff. Glitchy when I tried to search stuff up (flickering urls literally every time), removed ability to implement certain features when I was trying to use Google Sheets. Finally figured out this was the issue. More trouble than it's worth.
- Rated 1 out of 5by popeldd, a month agoThis extension breaks the functionality of Google Search's "AI Overview"
If there are any workarounds or any possible blacklist/whitelist feature, please let me know, as this caused a lot of frustration.
This is an excellent extension, but I have to leave it at a 1/5, for now. - Rated 5 out of 5by 天灭中共退党团队保平安, a month ago

- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 15265442, a month agoIn theory a great extension, but it has a lot of open bugs, that make many websites pretty much unusable.
One example that I was affected is Github: github[.]com/ClearURLs/Addon/issues/410
It took me a while to figure out that ClearURLs was the root cause for my issues. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13529995, a month ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17877953, a month agoVery nice addion but why mobile version have latest 1.27 but desktop have old 1.26 ?
- Rated 1 out of 5by pg_78, a month agoA seriously broken release took weeks to roll back. Other reviews have mentioned various impacts of this. One that affected me, but no one else has mentioned, is that Google started requiring captchas for me from every search, due to "unusual activity from your computer network". That was very burdensome and time-consuming for me.
Sorry, I'm uninstalling as I don't want to take the risk of this happening again.
