- Rated 3 out of 5by Alexander B., 6 years agoWell, the extension does an excellent job "darkenizing" most of the sites without losing readability.
But it does the reverse if applied to already dark-themed sites (either natively or via a Stylus theme). Also, sometimes text becomes unreadable and/or images invisible after applying dark mode. Manually whitelisting all such sites is cumbersome.
To deal with these issues, I would prefer any of the following mechanisms in this extension (or even better, all of them being configurable):
(a) have different mode for each tab;
(b) save last used mode for each site and apply it when opening it next time;
(c) use a list of sites to apply dark mode to (rather than not to apply it). - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 14547400, 6 years agoIt does what it says, but unfortunately it was causing all sorts of breakage on sites I use. Tons of SecurityError: The operation is insecure. and other issues showing in the console.

- Rated 3 out of 5by alexg, 6 years agoOn most sites it doesn't make it dark without bugs and it's too annoying to go through every other option every time for every site, and even then - often some parts of sites end up not being ideal.
idk if there are simple wildcards, seems there aren't; something like: ".*.fandom.com" doesn't work - so every subdomain has to be its own whitelisted entry, which is annoying.
"Twitch Player Extensions" hides stream player behind dark screen, even if "twitch.tv" is excluded. And embedded videos on many sites also have issues - the exception link should include third party links within the site (or have an option for it or a hotkey to disable it on domain of current fullscreen video, like it's possible with other darkmode extensions). It needs like [exclude div id="video_player"]
Would be nice:
- to have a button menu with an ability to cycle through different presets.
- to have site context menu be a toggle on/off rather than only add to exceptions. - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 14234058, 7 years agoThe extension is super great to have at night but has some flaws. It doesn't work on all websites, and sometimes it makes some things harder to look at when dark mode is on.

- Rated 3 out of 5by CTH, 7 years agoTwitch streams are blacked out, no video just sound when dark mode activated, even when you exclude the site from the addon.
- Rated 3 out of 5by CJ, 7 years agoUseful but not for dark themed sites like youtube "Dark Mode/YouTubeRED, buttons are blacked out.
Use "Dark Background and Light Text 0.6.8"
Works everywhere for me. - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13866345, 7 years agoEh. Works great in many places but not so well in others. for example the New tab page is still white. Facebook loses all its colours too. I don't want it to lose its colours I just want the white to turn into black.

- Rated 3 out of 5by Doug, 7 years agoThis has a serious problem with the _whitelist_ feature. You literally have to list each full domain name; e.g., example.com will *not* exclude www.example.com!
Sadly, *.example.com does not work either.
So, let us use wildcards or regex in the whitelist or this is a deal-breaker for the addon. - Rated 3 out of 5by himuton, 7 years agoPros: No more glaring white background.
Cons: Interfere with more than just the white background. Other color elements get messed up as well. - Rated 3 out of 5by Michd, 7 years agoI like that it is easy to switch on and off. It would be nice to have the option to adjust the colors to our liking, rather than just choosing from a pre-made list of themes.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13448652, 7 years agoTwitter theme kinda buggy, YouTube theme doesn't work.
It needs a whitelist. - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 12049448, 8 years agoWhen accessing certain websites, like a forum that contains mix contents and ads, having just the addon there enabled but not turned on dark mode already can cause memory leaks. Eg: https://forum.lowyat.net
This is tested on Linux, unsure about other OS. Other websites should do fine... - Rated 3 out of 5by Sebastian Blask, 8 years agoIt works well, but usability-wise it's not great. I find the toolbar button rather unintuitive (I understand the logic, but the orange looks like it's on even though it's off) and all the preferences should be available through a popup from the toolbar button, especially the whitelist (shouldn't it be called blacklist), so I can see changes immediately.
