- Rated 4 out of 5by pasta, 5 years agoIt does the job well about 98% of the time. The few times it has issues are with websites that already have built-in "dark modes," but you can easily have the add-on remember not to enable on those sites by clicking its button in the toolbar. It does affect load times of websites, but not by a very significant margin. Sometimes UI elements on certain websites become obscured but can be easily fixed by turning off the add-on for that website.
Overall, the add-on does exactly what it needs to do, with near perfect execution. It's an essential add-on for me now along with uBlock Origin. - Rated 4 out of 5by Wizzdom, 5 years ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 15831137, 5 years agoI am giving only 4 stars although this extension is very usefull and user friendly from my experience for 3 years, i had no problem with it.The reason why i give 4 stars, it drains net, i have a slow network if we use so many tabs they shows like that this extension make tap to close. So no other problems,,, i prefred to my friends also...
Thank You... - Rated 4 out of 5by noonbcc130, 5 years agoNormally, I use light theme.
When using the Dark Reader, it is correct that everything is dark.
But when off using the Dark Reader, my theme is still dark, although should return to light theme as before. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 16003644, 5 years agoI really like the add-on, it does exactly what it says it does, and does it very well. It gives sufficient controls to configure, and selectively customise or disable the add-on on specific websites.
That said, I disabled it today after trying it for almost 4 months. Sometimes it slows down webpages too much, specially long pages (e.g. Github's webhook payload docs page), pages with visualisations (plots and figures, e.g. the coronavirus monitoring page by worldometers), and sometimes login pages.
I also have a hunch it's causing the memory footprint of my FF instance to bloat. I have a really beefy laptop (>13 gigs of RAM available), and it still starts paging after half a day. I do have a lot of tabs open, but I didn't have this issue before. If I continue to have my RAM issues after disabling the add-on, I'll come back and remove this paragraph.
Edit: now I have been running with the add-on disabled for half a day, with the same set of tabs, and my memory footprint is about 1/3-1/4 as before. Really sad that I can't use this add-on, back to being blinded on the Interwebs :( - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 16002814, 5 years ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 14710455, 5 years agoDark Reader works beautifully on Android, however I need to manually turn it on instead of relying on Auto button. My phone turns on dark theme at night and other apps do follow except for this one. I'm not quite sure if I'm missing something.

- Rated 4 out of 5by tyandl, 5 years agoMajor eye-saver, 5 star add on except the performance hit on Gmail. Work around by adding mail.google.com to the exception list.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Makenni, 5 years agoThis addon is one of the few that I use, and I am so glad for its continued existence and maintenance. Thank you!
On the flip side, it has terrible performance repercussions on page load times. Not sure if devs could spend time optimizing it, or if it's well optimized and is just a result of doing a ton of work to successfully change each page on the fly. The end result is that it makes everything feel like going back to an HDD computer after using an SSD for years. - Rated 4 out of 5by Matthias, 5 years agoA pleasure to my eyes. Could do a better job of detecting existing dark themes. Would be nice if Dark Reader would automatically disable itself on pages where Stylus is active.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Gerald Squelart, 5 years agoSeems great, but I would prefer if there was an option to only be "opt-in", i.e., no darkening unless I explicitly add a website to the list. TIA!
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13678485, 5 years agoWorks very well overall. What would make it a 5-star review would be if it didn't slow loading webpages. Otherwise I have no real complaint. By far the most user-friendly, while still customizable.

Since last update of 24-apr 2020, the add-no no longer works properly on FaceBook. FB default images ( e.g. Like or Shortcuts to Messenger ) don't show up any-more???

Also other sites have similar problems, looks like "radio-buttons" don't work any-more. The radio-button options are not showing???Developer response
posted 5 years agoHi, unfortunately Firefox has some strange bugs with it's rendering engine. The workaround was added in version 4.9.7, please wait for an update. - Rated 4 out of 5by Sabrina, 5 years ago
