About this extension

Select Translate is an open-source extension that shows an instant popup translation right on the page.

How it works

Set your preferred language once — then simply select any word, phrase, or sentence to see the translation.
Choose how it triggers:
always on selection, or
only while holding Alt / Ctrl / ⌘ (many users prefer Alt).

Privacy & network

No account required. No user tracking.
Translation results are cached locally on your device to reduce unnecessary network requests.
Requests are sent only to:
https://translate.googleapis.com (translation)
https://dictionary.skyeng.ru — only when translating a single English word into Russian (dictionary card).
