Privacy policy for Firefox Translations
Firefox Translations by Firefox
The Firefox Translation Extension adds and improves client-side machine translation in a web browser. Unlike current cloud-based options, running translation directly on users’ machines means the text being translated is never sent to Mozilla. The Mozilla Privacy Policy describes how we handle information that we receive from you. In order to use the Firefox Translation Extension, you must also use Firefox. You can find information about how we handle information in the Firefox Privacy Notice. Here are the other key things you should know about how Bergamot Addon handles your data:Interaction data. Mozilla receives information about your interaction with Firefox Translation, including(1) Event Data such as when the info bar is opened, translate button is pressed, etc.(2) Metric data such as language being translated from/to, words translated per minute, etc. (3) Interactions with Firefox Translation menus and icons,(4) Length of time the app is in the background.Technical data. We receive your device, operating system, version, and language preference, etc. Survey data. Your input on your experience and feedback of the translation service, if you answer the survey. We might share the data collected by this extension and the optional survey with other researchers working on the Bergamot Consortium (https://browser.mt/partners/) and might publicly publish results from the aggregate analysis.
