FocusTube - Block Shorts, Reels, Feed & TikTok by Malek Wael

FocusTube helps reduce distracting short-form video and feed surfaces without blocking entire websites.

It is designed for people who still need to use YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn but want fewer distracting entry points.

Main features:

• Block YouTube Shorts
• Hide the English “Most relevant” shelf on YouTube Subscriptions
• Block Instagram Reels and Explore pages
• Hide Instagram Stories and Reels navigation
• Block common TikTok feed and video surfaces
• Block Facebook Reels pages
• Hide Facebook Reels navigation, Stories, and People You Might Know sections
• Hide LinkedIn Feed and “Add to your feed” distractions
• Use Strict Mode for immediate blocking
• Use Warn Mode to show a “Watch Anyway” warning where supported
• Use Passive Mode for lighter visual hiding without redirects or warning screens
• Start focus and break timers
• Receive optional browser notifications when timers finish
• Customize platform settings from the popup and Options page

FocusTube is designed for study, work sessions, coding, research, and everyday browsing when you want fewer distractions while keeping useful parts of each website accessible.

Privacy:

FocusTube is designed to run locally in Firefox. Settings, timer state, and simple blocked-count statistics use browser-local storage. The extension does not include analytics or telemetry and does not send browsing activity, settings, or statistics to a project-controlled backend.

Websites update frequently, so some blocking or hiding behavior may occasionally need maintenance. The YouTube “Most relevant” option currently depends on the English shelf label and the Subscriptions page. Please report compatibility issues or bugs on GitHub.
