- Rated 4 out of 5by theFlash2K5, 7 years agoThe add-on is almost to the point where I'd consider it a worthy successor to FireGestures. It's not as feature rich, but that's not the fault of the dev - it just won't be able to be as feature rich when Mozilla is limiting what the new API's can do.
That being said, there are a few things that have prevented me from switching over to this add-on before I decide to upgrade to FF57.
I think it needs a little more options for customization. For instance, it lets you directly save an image or bring up the save image dialogue, but it can be a little annoying to deal with. Like a few other add-ons, it defaults to the 'downloads' directory, which isn't what I want. I'd rather have the option to map a mouse gesture to either "save page" or "save image as" instead of "save image." It's a small gripe, but a function I use quite often, so it's a sticking point for me.
Otherwise, I like the direction the add-on is going and I'm keeping an eye on it's development. Given how much FF57 is going to change, I don't plan on upgrading right away, so hopefully waiting and watching will be a good chance for add-ons to iron out and add in new features that can help restore some of the old functionality that we'll be losing when the new API's hit.
ETA: Read the dev's comments below. Good to know! I figured it was probably issues on Mozilla's end. With such a big change coming, there's bound to be issues. Thanks for the heads up.Developer response
posted 7 years agoI've already opened an issue on Bugzilla about the "save image as" issue. That is a problem with Firefox, not the addon. See: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1395207 - Rated 4 out of 5by MJ54, 7 years agoor when you open extensions in Firefox.
Other than that, it's working OK.Developer response
posted 7 years agoNo web extension addons work on AMO or in about: pages. This is a limitation of web extensions. This is written in the addon description. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13352520, 7 years agowhen I'm using linux, the right click will instantly open a right-click-menu, so addons can be drawn correctly. Maybe is the way linux handles mouse events.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 10579522, 7 years agoI'm happy to see this functionality available in v.57, which initially strikes me as limited, but hopefully that will change ... having my Close Tab and Open Link in New Tab functions available with gestures is great ... couldn't find a way to add a Navigate to Upper URL Level yet, tho, something that was in FireGestures ... Mark- thanks for your work on this extension and I'm sure Gomita would be happy to see this :)
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13243477, 7 years agoNow I won't have to switch to another browser :D
Could you also add support for the ability to switch between browser tabs using the mousewheel? That was my most-often used feature in the previous add-on.Developer response
posted 7 years agoYou can change tabs with a wheel gesture. If you mean by scrolling the mouse wheel on the tab strip, then that is not something that is possible to implement anymore. See: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1285812 - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13313662, 7 years agoIt can be a good replacement for Firegestures if it works on empty and option tabs. Gestures works flawlessly.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13270182, 7 years agoI've only just installed it but am happy to find a very feature rich webextension to replace Firegestures. I realize there are bugs out of your control, but I am noticing on Mac OS X 10.11 that I do NOT get the context menu as I do a gesture. Perhaps they've already fixed that? Great work, thanks again. Looking forward to living with Foxy Gestures!
- Rated 4 out of 5by kevingoris, 7 years agohad to use the developer beta in nightly 57.
only it wont work on the blank page that i sometime open by mistake.
And wont work on this addons.mozilla.org (and dont know wich else)
Hope there is a work around for these. - Rated 4 out of 5by ethsen, 7 years agoNot a bad replacement for FireGestures. Only issue is it doesn't honor browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent,FALSE so all new tabs end up opening beside the current tab, not at the end of tab row. Wish it was consistent with the rest of the browser.

posted 7 years agoThere is no WE API to read from about:config settings. Log an issue on GitHub and I can add preference to implement the behaviour you want.
