Freighter Wallet Extension: Freighter is a non-custodial wallet extension provided by the Stellar Development Foundation (“SDF”). Freighter enables you to sign Stellar transactions via your browser which is a safer alternative to copying and pasting private keys for use with web applications. Your secret key is never exposed to web apps, allowing you to interact with web apps more safely. Freighter is currently supported on Stellar Laboratory, Stellar Account Viewer, and StellarTerm.
Information we collect that you provide to us may include (i) network information regarding transactions (ii) feedback or survey information including customer support (iii) usage information, such as information about how you use the service and interact with us.
We may also collect certain event based log data automatically such as your device, browser & OS, how you interact with our service and other statistics. We use this information to provide the services and we analyze (and may engage third parties to analyze) this information to update and improve and customize the services. You can opt out of these analytics data collection and use in your settings menu.
We may also collect the URLs or websites that you use with Freighter or destination addresses for transactions for security and anti fraud purposes.
When you use Freighter, your new stellar address, your keys and password are all stored locally and encrypted in your browser extension. SDF does not collect or store or have access to your keys or password or back up phrase.
Back up Phrase: If you lose access to your computer, you can only recover your account with your backup phrase. SDF does not store or have access to your keys or your backup phrase. In order to recover your account you must store your backup phrase in a safe and secure place. You have several options: Write your key down on a piece of paper. Keep it in a safe. Store it in a password manager. But don't ever keep it unencrypted on your computer or in your email. If you lose your back up phrase but still have your freighter account set up on your browser, you can use your password to review your account backup phrase by going to the main menu and selecting Show backup phrase. Never share your backup phrase or enter it on a website. Anyone that has access to your backup phrase can gain access to your account. Only enter your backup phrase on Freighter during account recovery. Note that we'll never ask it again once you create your account.
Password: Your password is used to encrypt and store the keys on your browser, and it's also used to make sure other people with access to your computer won't be able to use your account. You can't change your password. If you forget it, use your backup phrase and import your account again, defining a new password.
Wallet Addresses: To access, view or copy and share your public wallet address click on the copy icon to copy your address to the clipboard. If you want to preview the address or see the QR code to receive a payment, click on your account address. Freighter doesn't allow you, or any application, to have access to your private key. This helps to keep your account safe, while still allowing you to access your account and sign transactions.
