hide.me VPN Free Proxy by hide.me VPN

by MisterSergeCrono, 5 years agoAddon keeps turning itself off in Private Browsing Mode, even when you enable it for private windows in Firefox... it also doesn't work, AT ALL; I checked to disable WebRTC, enabled SOCKS, then went to hide.me's very own WebRTC Leak Test... and it told me I wasn't protected!!! Needless to say, I uninstalled the addon, did more searching on DuckDuckGo (because Google honestly sucks) and found a work-around to disable WebRTC in about:config on Firefox... went back to hide.me's website, passed all three tests (IP, DNS, and the previously failed WebRTC) with flying colors! Now don't get me wrong, the paid hide.me VPN is phenomenal so far, and it's great to know I can switch to their free version in the event of financial difficulties... but in the future, if I'm finding myself in a situation where I need to bypass censorship on a website with a way that only a proxy add-on can give me, then I will use one that ACTUALLY WORKS... right now, that is not this extension...

- Rated 2 out of 5by KevK, a month agoThe full Premium Suite is much better than this, not sure why they just have the free Version and limited functionality for the Plugin, other VPN providers have Plugins with full use.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Alepou, 3 months agohide.me does not reliably hide your IP address. Despite its claims of privacy and security, tests showed IP leaks via WebRTC or unstable server connections.
The free version is basically useless:
Limited servers
Slow speeds
Tiny data cap
Not suitable for users who care about real privacy, anonymity, or performance. There are much better alternatives, even free ones.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Justsomeone, 6 months agoGarbage, you can't pick the server you want and if you need one outside your country you can't pick it unless you pay for premium and if I'm going to buy a VPN service it won't be this one

- Rated 1 out of 5by Robert s, 8 months agoThe stand alone vpn is great but this is unnecessary and it adds its advertisement to firefox home page when you open it instead of your start page. annoying as hell. uninstalled it and the original works great.
