Has been taken over/sold out to some company who only uses it to steal data and doesn't even maintain the software.
Because of a Firefox bug it's still being shown as recommended and checked by Mozilla in your add-on library, even though they removed that flag some time ago.

As other mentioned used to be FOS but now is in hands of a company that has had controversies surrounding privacy
