About this extension
Monochromate – A Smart Grayscale Browser Extension for Digital Well-being

Monochromate is a powerful browser extension designed to reduce screen time, improve focus, and enhance accessibility by applying a grayscale filter to web pages. By removing distracting colors, it encourages mindful browsing and helps users regain control of their digital habits.

Benefits:
  • Reduce Screen Time – Studies show that grayscale mode makes screens less stimulating, helping you spend less time on distracting websites.
  • Boost Productivity & Focus – A color-free interface minimizes visual clutter, allowing you to concentrate better on tasks.
  • Reduce Eye Strain – Some users find grayscale mode easier on the eyes, especially during long browsing sessions.

Key Features:
  • One-Click Toggle – Easily enable or disable grayscale mode.
  • Adjustable Intensity – Fine-tune the level of grayscale to match your preference.
  • Website Blacklist – Keep specific websites in color while applying grayscale everywhere else.
  • Minimal and User-Friendly Interface – A sleek, modern design for seamless use.

Monochromate is perfect for anyone looking to reduce digital distractions, improve focus, and create a more mindful browsing experience. Whether you're a student, professional, or someone trying to limit screen addiction, this extension helps you stay in control.
Developer comments
I noticed that using grayscale mode on my smartphone drastically reduced my screen time. Since I spend most of my time browsing on my laptop, I built this extension to bring the same effect to web page, helping me stay focused and cut down on distractions.
