- Rated 3 out of 5by dpi0, 8 months agoit works perfectly, BUT has an extremely annoying issue where it doesn't remembers a custom shortcut like alt+a and resets it on every relaunch!! 😡
so as a better open source alternative i've gone back to: https://github.com/jscher2000/switch-to-previous-active-tabDeveloper response
posted 7 months agoHi! Can you open a bug on github or send me an email and provide more details? I'd like to get to the bottom of this. I have no other reports ever of the shortcut being forgotten, especially when setting it using the built in to Firefox method. Nor have I experienced it myself. What version(s) of Firefox? What operating system? What other addons are running? Thanks! - Rated 5 out of 5by S R, 9 months ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17761774, 2 years agoFF 109.0.1 - This extension has worked for many years but today it has stopped working. Clicking the toolbar button (the way I like using it) to quickly switch between 2 tabs now does nothing.

posted 2 years agoHi, sorry about that, version 3.1 had a bug in the toolbar button but it’s fixed in 3.2. You can get Firefox to update to 3.2 by clicking the gear icon in the Addon manager page and then clicking check for updates. - Rated 5 out of 5by Ben Dover, 2 years agoProbably the best extension i have on firefox at the moment (as well as most underrated). Its a shame these extensions don't have more users as i think its one of the biggest time savers when it comes to over all user experience of the browser. Its simple, and it does what its supposed to. Seriously, amazing extension and its a shame it has only 340 users. Well done...

- Rated 5 out of 5by truszcz, 4 years agoI had problems with shortcut until I've found out the reason (Multi-Account Containers extension captured shortcuts, even though set to 'none'). The solution is here: https://github.com/mozilla/multi-account-containers/issues/1814 (go to about:addons, click on the gear in the top-right corner, click "Manage Extension Shortcuts", delete wrong shortcut assigment). Maybe you would like to add this hint to your option page?

posted 2 years agoThanks for the suggestion! I've added more information about setting shortcuts. - Rated 5 out of 5by comment, 5 years agoThanks for your extension, please fix error: can't switch tab after closing a tab.
Extension "Tab flip for Tree Style Tab" of "Mélanie Chauvel (ariasuni)" (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-flip-for-tree-style-tab/) works fine, but that extension does not support customize hotkey.Developer response
posted 4 years agoHi, thanks for the feedback. Version 3.0 adds support for working even if you close the most recent tab. Enjoy! - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15088030, 6 years ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Col. Panic, 6 years agoThis is fantastic! You should update the FF Add-Ons page; it still says "it's not currently possible to customize keyboard shortcuts" but v.2 of this Add-on does allow it. In reply to M., the "Ctrl+Tab cycles through tabs in recently used order" behavior would drive me crazy. This is completely different, and [Shift-]Ctrl-Tab still works as expected--in the visible order. Finally, a replacement for the old-style FLST add-on that was never updated to work with WebExtensions!

posted 6 years agoThanks for the kind words and the suggestion to update the description, I have updated it to be clear that the shortcut is customizable. Have a good day! Developer response
posted 6 years agoHi, can you submit a bug with more details at https://github.com/thePaulV/Most-Recent-Tab/issues? It's confirmed working for me and no other reports of issues, so any information you could provide about your specific setup would help, including versions for everything: Firefox, Most Recent Tab, windows/macos/linux. Thanks!- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13378009, 6 years agoAwesome plugin, just what I needed except Firefox doesn't allow overriding of existing keyboard shortcuts. Because Firefox doesn't allow it, it renders the plugin pretty useless if I have to program it to some complicated shortcut that isn't used. I'm still going to be on Chrome and using with the "Alt + Q Switch Tabs Keyboard Shortcut" extension until Firefox fixes this. Switching to last tabs is essential for my browsing, so I won't be using Firefox until then. Great work to the developer of this plugin though.
- Rated 4 out of 5by M., 6 years agoIs this add-on still needed? At least on FF61 this is integrated under "Options / Tabs / Ctrl+Tab cycles through tabs in recently used order" checkbox and works fine. However the ability to trigger it via click on active tab would be useful (as it was in Tab Mix Plus), but I see it is not currently possible...

- Rated 4 out of 5by Ap11o, 7 years agoI note the problem with making this a single click on the tab to swap, but just wanted to add another request to show this is much wanted when it can be included.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13448519, 7 years agoAny way to implement this so that single clicking the current tab takes you to the last active tab?

posted 7 years agoHi, unfortunately the new Firefox addon APIs don't allow extensions to add features like that at the moment. A couple of people have asked about this, so I'm tracking it here: https://github.com/thePaulV/Most-Recent-Tab/issues/2. The Firefox bug in Bugzilla is #1246706. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13517987, 7 years ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Ritornell, 7 years agoFantastic addition, even essential. So all that remains is looking forward for Firefox to finally implement proper shortcut management, a limitation I don't understand as many other browsers are providing it for years. And even though I am, thank God, not missing an arm or a hand, CTRL+SHFT+1 is unfortunately near unusable on a German keyboard. Not your fault, of course, and at least I have a button for now. Thanks.

posted 7 years agoHi, thanks for the review. I've filed a bug (#1418984) requesting the ability to set locale-specific shortcuts while the bigger shortcut customization work is done. Assuming that gets implemented, what would be a good default on a German keyboard? You can comment here, send me an email, or respond to my tracking issue for the addon here: https://github.com/thePaulV/Most-Recent-Tab/issues/4
Update: Version 2.0 lets you set your own shortcut Developer response
posted 7 years agoHi,
Unfortunately with the new addon system there's no way to support custom shortcuts. The good news is that Firefox is working on adding a way for users to customize the shortcuts. The bad news is that I don't know when that will be finished.
