New Tab Override by Sören Hentzschel

by student 20, 5 years agoHonestly, despite my 5 star rating, it's not perfect - but the imperfections aren't the addon's fault, so 5 stars for it.
The reason it's not perfect is because it shouldn't exist. There is literally no reason why Firefox shouldn't let you put whatever the hell you want as a new tab page. In fact, it's maddeningly stupid that it doesn't. I resent greatly having to install an addon just to use the new tab page I like.
What's worse is that my New Tab Page is the same as my "Home" page (does anyone actually use "home" anymore?) - and I can't even set the new tab to be my home page. That's not just pointless and stupid, that's outright obtuse.
Firefox is the best browser out there, bar none. It was before the Quantum update, but it's even better now (sorry, XUL lovers - get with the times, yeah?).
But the fact that I need this addon just to make my new tab page to be the same as my Home page? That's just super, super dumb.
Sören Hentzschel's addon, though? Works perfectly, no complaints.

- Rated 4 out of 5by joefiesta, 3 months agoIt was working fine. But, no longer. I have chosen custom URL (https ://www google com /advanced_search). It doesn't go there upon opening new tab.
It may have been updating firefox to 136.0.4. (spaces added to URL - review does not allow otherwise)
EDIT: Okay, now I got it work. I had to uninstall it and re-install. Something Firefox did somewhere broke it, but I can't say what. I certainly never touched it. Developer response

It was a feature in „vanilla Firefox“ in the past, but it was abused by bad players and therefore Mozilla was forced to remove the option. But at the same time they gave extension developers the ability. So we have to be thankful to Mozilla.- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17434746, 4 months agoThe Bets! But, I can't donate through paypal cus they charge a fee! Suggest Venmo or other donation platform because PayPal is also run by APartheid NaXis!

It was possible several years ago, but Mozilla had to take this option from Firefox because hijacking was a real problem at that time. But we should be thankful, because Mozilla provided a WebExtension API on the first time when they removed this option. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18771567, 6 months ago
