It should work out of the box with local in-browser storage of metadata, but it starts shpow its strength when index & localhost-server is started.
But then, the bar is raided, because you need to install data-extractors from your various sites (twitter, DO, google) to feed this beast :-)
And the procedure for taking control of https://github.com/karlicoss/HPI is not easy.
I wish it had a section for android & how to install the server to a remote VM, and communicate through e.g. ssh-tunneling. Although i can install it on Firefox-nightly("fenix")[1] following the official-procedure for custom-collections[2], it's the server-part that's bugging me.

Yeah, it's a cool idea! I guess an easy way to try it would be to use something like ngrok (https://ngrok.com), although would be nice to find an open source alternative. If you set something up, feel free to share (at least as a github issue), it would be very welcome! - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13936106, 4 years agoAs of fall 2020, very alpha software. But i hope that, after years and years of naive and failed "sidebar chats", "linked data explorers" and similar, this is *the* software that we can standardize on to "take back the web"

- Rated 5 out of 5by ethos, 5 years agoI believe this addon is promising but do not know how to use it. Could you provide some simple instructions on how to install and use it? Thank you!

posted 4 years agoHi! Sorry, just seen the review -- have you been able to follow instructions here? https://github.com/karlicoss/promnesia#install
Feel free to reach me on the email, might be easier and quicker to communicate.
P.S (2020-11-26) I've just released a new update which allows the extension to work without the backend which should make it considerably simpler to try out (just need to install the extension). I've also added lots of updates to the documentation & setup process, so perhaps this would help! https://github.com/karlicoss/promnesia#try-it-out
