- Rated 3 out of 5by Simon, 4 years agoThe workflow of reading the page, showing and marking the correct line to follow the text works great.
The german translation of the options are horrible (So sollte es lauten: volume=Lautstärke, rate=Geschwindigkeit, pitch=Pitch) and maybe there is an issue with umlauts since it the TTS engine tries to split the wort at those positions - Rated 1 out of 5by Aaron, 4 years ago

- Rated 2 out of 5by shasta, 5 years agoit works. but you just have to figure it out on your own. no instructions and while it is sort of WYSIWYG-- it sorta isn't. the my biggest complaint is that it gives you no way to change voices other than the defualts. I see I have other in windows like autrailia Sean but the only ones listed are Hazel, David and Zira with no way i can fathom to add Sean etc.
This could be a windows idiot feature or it could be the extension. i was so used to being pampered with the 8 or so voices I had on my mac that i am still gutted to realize that changing to windows caused me to lose this functionality. oh sure I can spend 1k on voices and get the same approx. value but the reason I didn't buy a new mac is because I didn't have the funds at the time. I should have waited. lesson learned and payed for every time i try to wrap my brain around why i can't do the same basic feature change like i had on the mac. It's ridiculous. - Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 14525586, 6 years agoIt did not work for me, so I can't say much about using it. But when it failed to work, it really failed. Not only did it display a terminal window which non-programmer users will not understand, but it also displayed an error dialog on every single tab I had open (which you couldn't even close in a single click, it kept opening multiple times).

posted 5 years agoMy advice is for you to update your firefox and re-intall the add-on - Rated 5 out of 5by KBD99603, 6 years agoI love this text reader simply because for American English it has a classic electronic sounding voice, similar to H.A.L. the Space Odyssey movie series. For now I keep it at: Vol. 90, Rate 5, Pitch 4.5
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13427041, 7 years agoGreat light weight TTS. People, it's free. If you want the bells and whistles, choose a paid solution. Thanks for making this available.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 12803479, 7 years agoLooking for an easy way to read text out loud for easier understanding. Does not work if you are not on the web page (meaning doesn't play in the background while you are doing other tasks.) Can't get it to read from cursor...starts at the top every time. Not anything that's adding value.
- Rated 3 out of 5by gsbabil, 7 years ago- The add-on currently doesn't work on reader view (`about:reader`) pages
- Please add a user-configurable keyboard shortcut to start/stop TTS
- The toolbar button doesn't seem to do anything on click. The only way I could get TTS to work on Firefox 52 ESR is by selecting text and navigating to the right-click menu.
- Word/sentence highlighting doesn't seem to work - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13161077, 7 years ago
- Rated 3 out of 5by Алик, 7 years agoError of recognition of Cyrillic characters under item - 2: It can start reading a page from the begging to the end of the page.
Will appreciate by 5 when you start to read a page entirely in RussianDeveloper response
posted 7 years agosorry for this problem. How ever this add-on should read a page that is in Russian provided you have a Russian voice installed. If you are not using a Russian voice then words with Cyrillic character will not be recognize by your voice engine.
Also make sure you select the right voice for the page you want to reed or the add-on will use the default language voice of your computer. perhaps i should make the selection of voice base on the language of a page, but this has some complications i will look at it
