This extension, this glorious glorious extension, a wet dream of mine and many, is the closest thing to a good Stylish replacement and makes New Reddit feel useable.
I hate dark mode, but I also hate light mode. Both cause differing eye issues, with this? I can finally make mid-mode (Er, we'll think of a more impressive name for it later) where nothing stands out blazingly bright enough to burn your retina (I have permanently dilated pupils). Of course this is a customiser so you can do whatever colours or brightness you fancy yourself, if mid-mode scares you with it's badass name and whatnot.
For the dev/s! There's only three real weaknesses in this right now that if you could solve would make it even more magical.
1) No profile options, so when you view your own profile the style sheet is fubard. At the very least a comment background colour setting for profiles would be nice.
2) Keep the extension window open until closed! Lots of fiddling and have to reopen the extension each time and scroll back to where I was is tiring.
3) Could you read a background image off of a specified local disk location instead of only through URL? I am using imgur for now but I have little faith in it.Developer response
posted 10 days agoAmazing review haha, thanks! :D I'm glad your retinas aren't burning anymore!
Regarding your points:
1) I'll add a new style option in a future update for the profile page comment background colour.
2) Unfortunately, I can't make the popup stay open, but I have a few options you can try:
a) I added a "shade" button at the top right of the popup window. This will "minimise" the popup so you can see underneath, but if you click outside, it will close.
b) Perhaps a better way, you can click the "Options Page" button to open the options in a new tab. You could then drag and detach the tab and put it on a second monitor, or resize it and switch between it and your main browser window, or just keep it as a tab.
c) Bonus option. Go to "about:config" (in the URL bar) and search for "ui.popup.disable_autohide" and toggle it to "true". This will keep the popup permanently open, but you can't close it unless you toggle the option back to "false". You could combine this with the shade option!
3) I'm afraid not, I can't access user local storage for security reasons. However, it is possible to convert images to base64 code, then that code can be stored safely in the extension local storage in the browser. I think the maximum an extension can store locally is 10MB, so you'd have to use a small image or reduce the file size. Browser sync storage is only 100KB, so syncing images is out of the question. I could automate this process and you simply just upload an image, but you won't be any to store many. - Rated 5 out of 5by VOIIIXI, a month agoAmazing add-on! Highly customizable and simple to understand. 5/5
- Rated 5 out of 5by Axolotl, a month agoIt's a shame the old-new reddit redirect doesn't work but it's not like that's the fault of the extension author.
Thank you for the option to modernise old-reddit, it's truly a lifesaver. I support it's development greatly. - Rated 5 out of 5by ayuxx, 2 months agoSince reddit forced the new new UI a few days ago, I've been wanting to change certain elements, remove some (eg: the recent section in the sidebar) and re-add some (eg: post flairs), and I was able to make the title font size smaller. Thanks dude.
edit: Actually, I seem to still be missing post flairs in my custom feeds. - Rated 3 out of 5by Lone Destroyer, 2 months agoReddit.com breaks and creates an error "The page isn’t redirecting properly". I had to clear my cache then dissable the ext and then relogin for it to work.

posted 2 months agoThis is Reddit forcing users onto the latest version. I'm surprised your work around worked tbh, but I guess it won't last :/ - Rated 4 out of 5by Sean, 2 months agonew.reddit.com no longer works and creates an error "The page isn’t redirecting properly"

posted 2 months agoI'm afraid this is Reddit forcing users onto the latest version and it conflicts with the extension. Nothing I can do about it, sorry. You'll have to disable the redirect feature, or choose the Old UI. - Rated 2 out of 5by Futuristic, 2 months agoThe reason I got this extension was this:
"• Scroll to the next root comment with a click of a button."
I'm not able to find this feature in the settings, even after searching for it in the settings menu. Please advise how to enable this setting?Developer response
posted 2 months agoHi. The option is called "Show Navigation Buttons For The Next/Previous Root Comment" in "Productivity", or search for "root". This option, however, is only available for the latest and "old new" versions of reddit. I'll try and add support for old reddit. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13548239, 2 months agoNone of the settings appear to do anything. Sort by new doesn't work, open images on their own instead of embed doesn't work.

posted 2 months agoHi. These settings should work. If refreshing your browser doesn't help, please report the issue on GitHub, along with browser and extension versions and I'll try to help figure out what's wrong. - Rated 3 out of 5by DannnTzy, 3 months ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by duooo, 3 months agoIt's nice, but some reason while scrolling on any page it loves to instantly open a post for no reason. Its also always the same post the moment I scroll close to it.

posted 2 months agoThis is odd, I've not come across this behaviour before. How often does this happen? If you could report this issue on GitHub and let me know which settings you have enabled, that would help. Thanks. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18625271, 4 months agoHave been searching high and low for something that would HOLD and MAINTAIN Reddit Community and Comment sorting. This add-on does it! I am thrilled! Thank you SO much!
- Rated 5 out of 5by anthony, 4 months agoI've been a Redditor for over 14 years and for some reason always thought RES was the "best" or only Reddit enhancer. Since migrating over to Firefox recently, I've been starting to dig around the extensions and came across Reddit Enhancer. Long story short, I can't believe it's taken me THIS long to discover it! Undoubtedly it's the best and most powerful Reddit extension I've come across. Being able to debloat the UI and customize Reddit to the nth degree is a GAME CHANGER.
Can't speak highly enough about it. An absolute must for hardcore Reddit users. Big thank you to the devs! You did a helluva job on it!Developer response
posted 2 months agoThanks for the great review! RES was the OG, I wanted to fill the void for the newer versions of Reddit. I'm happy you enjoy the extension and find it powerful :) Developer response
posted 6 months agoWhat doesn't work? If you are referring to the redirection to "Old New UI", Reddit is discontinuing this version and users will eventually loose access to it. There is nothing I can do about it unfortunately.- Rated 5 out of 5by missy, 6 months ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Kebyh, 6 months agoThank you! This is making the horrible new reddit design feel like it was before by using the option to remove the left side bar. Great work.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Polaris, 6 months agoWas using it for long time for redirecting into new.reddit, was working perfectly... untill reddit removed new.reddit all together -_-
Now I'm getting used to old reddit, the "modernized" version and it works well.
Would it be possible to add the lower contrast version to it? (I mean similiar text-background colors to now discarded new.reddit) Thanks!Developer response
posted 6 months agoHi. Yeah it seems Reddit is phasing out new.reddit unfortunately :/
I'm happy you like the modernised version of old.reddit, I'll revisit it soon with some more improvements. I can start adding more style options for old reddit so you can pick whatever colours you want.
Thanks for the review! :) - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18530136, 6 months agoIt does not work anymore. It says: The page is not redirecting properly
Developer response
posted 6 months agoYou need to be signed into Reddit unfortunately for it to redirect to the Old New UI, otherwise Reddit will force a redirect to the latest version, causing this error, as it conflicts with the addon redirect function.
Edit: It seems that Reddit has now broken, or disabled, new.reddit.com for some users. Other redirect extensions are having a similar issue apparently. I'm not sure if this is something Reddit will fix, or if they are doing it deliberately to force users onto the latest version :/ - Rated 1 out of 5by fraterboots, 6 months ago

posted 7 months agoHi. Are you just left clicking on an image on a post, or trying to open the image in a new tab? Which version of Reddit are you using? - Rated 5 out of 5by rram1220, 8 months agoI've been using this enhancer for a few months now and I love it. However I have an issue after the latest update on June 11, 2024. When I have a thread open in a topic I am reading the X to close the thread (A reply to the topic) is now gone. I used to be able to click on the X or click the back button on my mouse to close the reply. Please put the X back and allow me to click the back button on my mouse to go back. Otherwise this is a prefect enhancer.
Edit:
So after a week and not changing any settings the X Close option returned out of the blue. I feel this was an issue with Reddit and not this enhancer. I wanted to report back and change my rating to 5 stars.Developer response
posted 7 months agoHi, thanks for the review! I'm not quite sure I understand. Are you referring to when a comment thread is too long and it opens in a new page? I haven't changed anything which should have affected this, but I'll look into it. Which version of Reddit are you using, and do you still have the issue if you disable the addon?
Edit: That's good to hear it's back again. Thanks :) - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 18459010, 8 months agoOnce I install it, how do I activate and modify? Trying to modify the content - especially control "recents" on the sidebar. Thanks! - So great, thank you!!!!

posted 8 months agoHi! Click the extension in the extensions menu in the Firefox toolbar (jigsaw puzzle icon), and enable any setting you like in the Reddit Enhancer popup. You can pin the extension to the toolbar for easy access by clicking the cog icon on the extension in the extensions menu. :) - Rated 5 out of 5by Alfredo Natale, 8 months agoVery good extension, I would like an option to hide suggested posts (not only promoted ones)

posted 8 months agoHi, thanks for the review! You can disable recommendations in the reddit user settings, but I can add this as an option to the next version as well.
