by Firefox user 14636167, 6 years agothis is fairly good, although unfortunately developer does not include any privacy search engines (like DuckDuckGo or StartPage for example), something that should have been considered when creating this add-on. hopefully the next updated version will also include some additional Privacy Search Engines ...one can only hope.

posted 6 years agoThis extension use your search engine list in Firefox settings. (So you do not need to config it, just use it out of box) You may want to change the list in Firefox options: Click three bar icon -> Options -> Search -> One-Click Search Engines. This extension will not come up with its own search engine list (otherwise user has to maintain two search engine lists in both extension and browser, which most users don't like).

- Rated 5 out of 5by robomatic, 6 months agoAmazing extension! One of my favourites.
The only issue is it sees all search engines. I wish there was a way to only see the search engines that are enabled (blue checkmark) under about:preferences#search - Rated 5 out of 5by Nicolás, a year ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 12740845, 3 years agoIt's very good, but if i disable some search engine from Firefox option, they are always visible. The only way is to delete them. Thank you so much.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Sans Undertale, 4 years agoDoes just what it says. All your default Firefox Search Engines presented cleanly in the context menu. You can't add search engines independent of the Firefox browser (for that you'll want Swift Search Selection), but if all you want is what's already in your address bar then this is perfection. No unnecessary permissions, no unnecessary features, what you see is what you get. Pair it with the "Add custom search engine" add-on and you have a match made in heaven.
Edit: From five to four stars because there's no way to disable the search engine shortcuts, which in turn affects how engines are displayed in the context menu. - Rated 5 out of 5by Scoox, 4 years agoDoes exactly what it says on the tin and does it well. It picks up your existing Firefox search engines, so you only need to maintain one list. All other similar context menu search tools I had tested required a second list to be added. The only small hassle is that Firefox doesn't allow adding custom search engines out of the box (as far as I know), so I would also recommend another wonderful add-on that is the perfect companion to Simple Context Search: Tom Schuster's Add Custom Search Engine (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-custom-search-engine/). These two add-ons working together will significantly enhance your web-browsing experience.

posted 5 years agoThere isn't a config file in Extension. You could change engine lists in Search Option in Firefox if you want. In case you want to deploy your Firefox using config files. You should have a look at Firefox enterprise group policy.

Search engine's url could not be configured there. The only way you can do is install another search engine and remove the current one. By doing this, you need to find a open search xml for that search engine and install it. Some other tools / website may help you do this. But this may be out of scope of this extension.
