by glocal, 4 years agoI have been waiting for this since the late 90s! Absolutely essential for academic and serious archiving work. It produces a single file, the file is indexable, it adds source/date metadata, it edits/annotates, it saves selectable sections and links, it autosaves, there is a version for all major browsers, the saved file opens in any browser without the need for an addon so it's browser agnostic and future-proof, and more. The only thing missing (I think) is being able to edit/annotate the previously saved file. Brilliant and should come as standard in all browsers.
EDIT: Actually, you can edit/annotate previously saved files and SingleFIle cleverly won't touch the info bar if there is one already. Excellent! 6* for that. Now I wish you could select first and then click on the highlight button rather than the other way round :)

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18730145, a month agoEasily my most-used extension. I always like to save online data locally in case it succumbs to "link rot", and I used to archive things as PDFs...clunky, storage-hungry, filled with formatting issues. SingleFile is my new replacement for that. I LOVE it!

I was trying to save a very long page that would take like 30 years to scroll through. I wanted to take a screenshot of it. I used Firefox's default screenshot system but it didn't work. I tried FireShot and the stupid corporate addon asked me to pay to take a flipping screenshot. Ctrl+S? Failed as well. So I installed this add-on, and IT LITERALLY SAVED THE WHOLE THING. ALL 12 MEGABYTES. This thing is INSANE, I'm definitely keeping this! - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12552364, 2 months ago
